Collider has new (and allegedly real) concept art pics of Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor! Nice to see Marvel sticking with colorful superheroes in their movies, rather than making them all "dark and realistic".
I don't know what it is, but something about Thor bugs me. Those pictures just scream 'magician at a kids birthday party' to me. I think part of the problem is the pose, though.
Though I love the concepts and the way their costumes are designed, what i find slightly annoying is the rubbery feel they have. Well, captain America is still a painting of sorts, but Thor is lacking that real metallic feel from the chain mail, scales armor thing he's got and the rest feels like a fabric too futuristic and kinda fake for the God of thunder from mythology to have. Wish they could achieve that really metallic shine from it without looking fake. It's one of the minor gripes I had with iron man, that sometimes the armor looked like hard plastic more than it did metal, but hey, I understand the real thing is pretty heavy and uncomfortable to wear.

These pictures are entirely illustrated--only the faces are real--which is why everything feels a little "off". You can't judge the actual costumes based on these mockups.
As for Thor's armour this isn't based on the Thor of mythology but the one from the comics who does indeed have armour looking much like that.
Even the Thor one? That's a damn good artist.
I know they're based on the Thor comic and he had clothes like those (in fact, they were far more simplistic and wouldn't look good in a movie). But since they're going with the chain mail thing from the newest version of his costume that looks armored, then I hope they get that metallic feeling. They've already released the first pic I think, and I got the same impression as well, that he's wearing plastic and rubber (because he probably is/will) instead of metal or some sort of fabric you'd expect Asgardians to be able to make and wear.
I like the concept designs, but I hope they make them more rough looking.

Ditto. He looks very good though. After seeing him in Star Wars, I never imagined I'd look at Chris Hemsworth and go: "Oooh! Sexy!"
The Captain America thing, though... I'm sorry, but you guys kind of are THE evil empire these days. And it comes across hard as typical evil empire propaganda. I gather the comic isn't really a jingoist-fest (I'm afraid I've always avoided it like the plague, so I wouldn't really know), but still... It is dangerously close to hitting my projectile-vomit, throw-paintbombs-at-embassies & burn-flag reflexes.

I'm going to leave that "evil empire" comment alone, except to say you can't judge an entire country by the (atrocious) mistakes made by the previous administration.
As for Captain America, in his origin, he was created as a tool of the military, both in the strategic sense and in the propaganda sense. However, they made a slight mistake when they chose a man who believes in basic American ideals so strongly that he has gone so far as to publicly rebel against his own government when he feels they have trampled on those ideals. He is supposed to be the ultimate expression of the good ideas that this country was founded on, regardless of what the government says.
