tfishell: I was hoping for some special old releases, but that's not what quite what I'm seeing in the announcement. :-/ (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.)

Coelocanth: Hard to say. This part...
they will also be showcasing several new releases as well as giving gamers a unique chance to get some of the greatest classic games ever made for a literally unbeatable price
avatar
Coelocanth: ...might mean a sale price on classics already here or it could mean an announcement of a new batch of classic games with a discounted promo price.
Man I hope it's the second one, but I doubt it. :( Was "literally" used here correctly? (It seems kinda iffy.) Are we completely unable to physically hit those prices or something?

I agree with Gazoinks, I think it probably means some games will be free for a short time. I don't know if they will be newly-added classics, but I suspect they will be on the catalog already.

It could, I know of at least two developers/publishers that have been in talks with GOG recently, and from what they told me, it sounds like they're really close to coming to GOG.

I'm not going to say who, just because I may have misunderstood where they are in the process, but I know at least one of those could definitely qualify under that notion.

For speculation's sake, what about Leisure Suit Larry? Those aren't available anymore elsewhere and I know that Replay games now has the rights to that, but mysteriously, it hasn't yet shown up anywhere for sale.
I doubt GOG will ever sell games for Macs.

I mean, GOG's price points are completely incompatible with the Mac Tax... you know, the games we get for $5, they get for $30? :P

Although... they said unbeatable, but not necessarily unbeatably low. Billion dollars each?

Good point - I laughed :D
Patience!

Each day brings us one step closer to knowing/buying! =O

Coelocanth: Bringing the games to a new OS. Linux support maybe? Interesting.
OS X would be epic. I've have nothing against Linux, I've just really never used it.

I'm of course just speculating, but if it were Linux support, it would be interesting timing, since I've decided to try diving into Linux again and have loaded a distro onto my netbook. I may go for a dual boot with one of my rigs if I find I can figure it out again.

Yes. Yes, it was. :)
It looks like unbeatable might be some kind of hint (hence literally).

Ha ha, okay. I'm just so used to it (apparently) being used incorrectly, and others complaining about it being used incorrectly. :P
