Fun little game that ticks a lot of good boxes in terms of ideas/philosophy behind it*. Yes it's just multiple choices, only text and way too short, but - I think - an interesting first attempt. I am not quite convinced they managed to completely utilize the "every choice is meaningful" aspect as the story is linear and each chapter plays out different (though there are some choices that carry over)/
I feel it'll be interesting to see where they go next, now that the basic scripting system is developed.

*From the game's "Why?" page:
"We have chosen to develop multiple-choice games for several reasons. First and foremost, we like to focus on interesting choices. Many games work by surrounding interesting choices with lots of tactical play or interactions with a set of game systems. That can be fun, but it means that relatively little of the playing experience is about making choices at a high-level. In contrast, by creating a game system that is all about multiple-choice interactions, we can focus on the choices we find interesting—moral choices, trade-offs between different values and characteristics, and so forth. When you play one of our games, you should be making meaningful choices all the time.
It's worth stressing that last bit: games need meaningful choices to be interesting. If your choices are not meaningful, then you're really just going through the motions. "
Thanks - This should make for a fun little diversion.
people: try this
it is really fun. reminds me of Kings of Dragon Pass, if anyone has played that. it's easier though.
Yay, a choose your adventure diversion!
it's more than that, there are stats and a much more dynamic story

yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. Initially I thought it was just another quizzilla "what dragon are you" thingy, but they really managed to tell a story and give you actual choices. It's actually very, very good at what it does.
played it twice now. i like finesse and honor. i think the hardest thing is impressing a mate. i just can't get that gold dragon to be into me. maybe she's a lesbian dragon.

Hehe.. I only made a lame-ass attempt to gather info about potential mates and then gave up on it.
In the end I had extremely high finesse, cunning and disdain. I *love* disdain =D
Finesse and Cunning for me, dead center between Vigilance and Disdain. The only mistake (in my eyes) that I made was attempting to topple What'sHerFace's tower at the end; damn thing has quite a foundation!
This is certainly an interesting game. The stats have a tangible effect on some situations, e.g. for an aerial battle you might fare badly if you have low Finesse. I would love to see a King of Dragon Pass-style version with graphics and whatnot.
Fun game. I'll try it again soon. :)
I have a feeling a properly illustrated game of this type could do rather well on the casual portals. I remember there were some proper commercial games that used this model back in the eighties.
And I very much want to play KODP. Why isn't it on GOG yet, eh? Eh?
Anyway, I had some fun with this, thanks for mentioning it.
That was a fun game. Thanks for the link.
They have now released their scripting language to the public. See their blog entry at http://www.choiceofgames.com/blog/2010/01/choicescript-interpreter-available-at-github/ Been reading through the documentation. It seems both quite easy to use and fairly flexible.
