Since both games are being sold for just over $1 and appear to be quite similar--even being developed by the same company!--I thought I would ask the following question(s):

Which of these two games do you consider to be the best, or more worth purchasing, and why?

(Optional question: Which game offers better random map skirmish gameplay against the AI?)

P.S. I'm aware that a similar thread already exists here on GOG, but it received just a couple responses, therefore I saw it fit to create another one.

I have only played Cossacks, but I believe GSC improved their work in American Conquest.

Here has Cossacks its 2 expansions, while American Conquest only its first expansion (the one developed by GSC, while the other one Divided Nation was commanded by the publisher CDV but not developed by GSC).

So I think it's more a question of taste, which nations would you like to play with and to play against.
