It's been months since I played and I started with older version and that had game breaking bug. That bug was fixed in current version so I was able to finish it. While I don't remember any specific bugs, game is crash prone altought it does not happen THAT often.

The performance was generally good but in temples, fps tended to fall dramatically over time. Same happened later when I mined large chunks of floating islands so maybe there's memory leak and or problem with game physics or something.

When trying to move sideways just tiny bit (say closer to an edge of island), my character often was catapulted to waaay more forward than expected. Character movement felt wonky in general and probably caused more deaths than enemies.

Some parts of the game felt incomplete. There is not much to be done in cities beside ship repairs, shopping and following main quests as there are only couple side quest lines. NPC's just spout random one liners. Ship builders will unfortunately soon find out that devs did not add higher grade material versions of all ship parts. There is even material, diamond, that has afaik only one use and that's making diamond drill, an item you can find in shop (and by the time you can make it, it's easier and faster to mine with assasins/vibroblade).

The game definately could've used 6 months to a year of additional develpment time.

True... But from what i gathered from the KickStarter page, it was basically a passion project while they were between projects, and i'm not sure if it was ever intended to be released to the public, or how willing Snowed-In-Studios could devote to effectively an unproven indie game, and unknown IP.

If they've made back enough money to consider it a full fledged series, they will probably add more to WindForge's engine and polish, or at worst ignore it and make WindForge 2. I think Snowed In Studios got a bleak impression of the interest in the game based on getting the bare minimum they asked for on KS, which i think was $60k.

Sad to say, but i don't expect too many updates on it. Maybe if someone has nothing to do they will work on WF a bit more, or say new hires who need to get a feel of their style and source code management without accidentally risking an actual high costing project funded by another company.

Yeah, would've required extra hundred thousand dollars from KS (so all the stretch goals could've been achieved) and 6 to 12 months of development time (would've resulted from having to implement the stretch goals anyway).

As is, for past 6 months or more, as far as I can tell, only one dev has been working on Windforge and rest of the team has moved on. He's still around and working on patching the game apparently but I wouldn't expect much beyond bugfixes and other minor changes at this point. Snowed in Studios is also busy with contracts so he's having hard time finding time to work on the patch so it comes when it comes

As for sequel, it pretty much would require quiet time with contracts and definately another KS with much higher initial goal.
