Steam? Oh god dammit, once I was convinced THQ learned from DRM, now they are ruining it on their first Action Game?
Meh, rather buy Stalkers 3.
wow. its on steam... big deal.
heck i like steam. hate cds. my batman AA cd looks damaged. left it on top of computer case for 4 months. forgot about it :D

No, it uses Steamworks. Even if you buy the PC version at retail you'll still need to use Steam to play.
This is one reason why I actually prefer GFWL; unlike Steamworks you can totally do everything but multiplayer without even touching GFWL if you don't care to.
If your game discs get damaged it's your fault. This isn't like with the 360, where just playing normally can damage the disc over time with certain units. Discs that are put back in their cases properly when not in use will last for decades.

Arkose: so it uses steam. again: BIG DEAL :D
seriously. with new steam the goddamn offline actually works (so that argument is dead)
empire uses steamworks. no worring about patch or whether my disc gets scratched (okay. sorta worried as it will take a bit of time to DL the game)
Steam simply works
GFW has troubles and does not often work (i don't know. B:AA is the only game where i used it. didn't bother with fallout 3)

Oh great. THQ and SteamWorks == Valve fucking around with the release for us in Japan.
Think I'll just pass and save myself the bother. Bit of a shame as I would probably have enjoyed it as well...

With a GFWL game you can install it, create an "offline profile", and get playing without ever doing anything online. With a Steamworks game you will need to connect to the internet to install and activate the game, and then put the client into offline mode.
Years from now when both Steam and GFWL servers are offline only GFWL titles will work offline straight from the original disc without needing you to hund down a crack first.

Though some games, thankfully a very small minority, need GFWL to be online just to save the bloody game. Single player, mind you. Now we know where Ubisoft got their idea.
It is rather a shame, its a fun little slasher even if it does get predictable in places
I hear it's a good game. I think I'll borrow the console version off a mate's and if I like it, I'll buy it on PC.

Which ones? As far as I know offline profiles work with every game.

This is already confirmed to be using Steamworks; you can tell this from the achievements on the Steam store--all GFWL games have to include Live achievements, and no game has ever used both achievement systems.

I heard it was rather repetitive because you just did the same attacks.
