i have a smal problem starting up discworld noir ( here after referred to as noir )

i am using virtual pc 2007 and installed both windows 98 and windows ME ( on top of win 98 my ME is a upgrade disc )

both windows are stock on top of the virtual pc no updates and no internet connection for them either

the problem is that noir takes an absolute age to do something anything it takes 15 minutes or more before the game actually starts

when the game starts it works well enough i just wish it would start faster

is there anything i can do about this ?
What are your computer specs? Does your computer support hardware-assisted virtualization and is it turned on in the BIOS?

I don't have much experience with Vitrual PC, I usually go with VitualBox and that works fairly well for me.

no it doesnt support hardware virtualisation

i dont use virtual box because it doesnt have working additions for windows 9x
i have to install a third party vesa driver and even then there is no mouse integration

lets say that this http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170785-virtualbox-windows-98se-step-by-step/

is a bit much simply to get win 9x to run on virtual box

I forgot Win 9x isn't supported on Virtual Box, I only have as far back as 2000 running on it. A little research seems to suggest Win 9x isn't officially supported in Virtual PC, either. Even though it can run additions, it's not really optimised and runs slow unless you have a fairly powerful computer.

If you can get a hold of Windows 2000, you might have better luck running that, and I think Noir is compatible.
i have windows 2000 actually im nto too sure if noir is actually compatible with it
it wont run on xp and 7 wont even touch it

but it cant hurt to try i suppose
