This is my first run at PC gaming in a long time. The last time I really played PC games was when Starcraft first came out. I've been a console player for a while.

So my question is how does the DLCs work? So far i only bought the Witcher EE. I've used the search engine and nothing shows up for DLCs.
Because the only "DLC" for The Witcher was a patch that made it EE/DC. If you have the EE, then there's no additional DLC.

I thought EE comes with the DLC.

Or, what they called modules. You should have gotten two, I believe, installed with the game that are seperate "adventures" from the main story.

There are no DLCs for TW. :)
In general how does it work? For example when I get The Witcher 2 and I know for sure that will have DLCs how do I get them?

The Witcher 2 Launcher has this button labeled "Downloadable content".

Thanks...I'm guessing all the games have this.

No, just The Witcher 2, the rest of the games on GOG typically are a Gold version or Game of the Year, or whatnot, and already include the expacs for the game. Obviously fan made mods still work on the vast majority of these, but they're optional, and you should look to the game's mod community if you want them.
Actually, almost all of the games here are older than the concept of DLC (and most of them come in a "complete" edition anyway).
So there are no games on GOG that have any DLC right now, except The Witcher 2.

Yes, back in the day DLC used to be free, or be big enough to justify an actual expac (like DA:O Awakening). It's so sad, PC gamers today are being inured to the idea that the PC is little different from a console.

It's amusing to look back at David Gaider's Ascension for BG2, and realize that'd be a $20 DLC today, and half as well made. :p

Well, tbh, I'm not opposed to the concept of DLC in theory. Having bite-sized extra adventures for a low price sounds interesting.

The problem is that in practice, they're overpriced (compared to a full game or even an expac) and often badly-done. Frankly the only one I've felt was remotely worth it was Lair of the Shadow Broker for ME 2 (it has a great story, interesting gameplay, and its price/content ratio is about the same as a good expac).
Trials of the Luremaster for Icewind Dale can be named "Downloadable content". It's free and it's the last patch for the game. Something similar did Blizzard through patches for Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne, adding another 2 chapters for the Bonus Campaign (the game still receive patches, often with "free" maps).

Then came Micro$oft with Xbox 360...
