A simple raffle giveaway for Quest for Glory 1-5.

To enter, say "I'm in." and tell me about a game that made you feel like a hero(ine) and what in the game made you feel that way.

Of course, anyone not entering is welcome to share their stories as well. If you feel you want to indicate that you're not entering, say "Cognitive dissonance."

Runs for about a week or so.

Thanks for the giveaway. Cognitive Dissonance. That topic name made me get some unpleasant flashbacks.

Corvo from Dishonored seemed really heroic to me. The thing about Dishonored is that you can chose what kind of person Corvo is by being a ruthless killer or someone who makes sure people get what they deserve without killing them.

I wanted your post to end with "Gentlemen, welcome to my giveaway".

A Game that made me feel like a Hero? I gotta go back to the original Fable, because the "Protagonist" changes depending on whether you are Good or Evil. An Extremely Good Hero held a Halo, and an aura of light, while an Evil carried a set of horns, and flies that buzzed around him.

This sounds like something a villain would say.
I'm In

As to game making me feel like a hero, I would think it would be Bards Tale on the C64 as well as Pirates on the C64. As to recent I would have to say NWN. When NWN first came out it felt truly immersive, though I wanted to kill Arabeth almost immediately.
Like a hero? Ha, Half-Life 2 Episode Two. That ending (well, the last mission, not specifically the ending) has you running around defeating several waves of Striders (three legged giant creatures) and using a car. And after that, when you return... You receive quite an emotional welcome =) And then the damn cliffhanger! x_x But anyway, really makes you fell heroic on that mission =D

PS: Not in :P

What made you feel like a hero in these games, can you recall?

I'm in. Papers, Please made me feel like a hero by putting me in a position where I could use my powers in a shitty society for good, and more importantly, it made heroics feel like they actually carried weight; too many games make playing nice so easy that it gets taken for granted, and Papers, Please did a wonderful job at making me want to do heroic and altruistic things despite knowing that doing so was going to bite me in its own way.
I must admit, when Sierra said, 'If this doesn't make you feel like a Hero, we'll come down to the beach and let you kick sand in OUR faces," they weren't kidding. Quest for Glory is truly the best at making you feel like a hero.

I remember seeing a demo for QfG3 a long time ago and thinking it looked awesome, but I never got a chance to play it until I bought the series on GOG. I was so Impressed with the first two games, the second definitely being my favourite, by the time I actually got to the the third game I was a little disappointed. I think I just imagined a different game over the years from seeing the demo, or maybe it was the lack of a parser. It's still an amazing game, though, and the series as a whole is just great.

Now we just gotta wait for Hero-U so we can feel like a hero all over again. :D
Can I please be entered for a chance to win Quest for Glory 1-5? If so, "I'm in." Thanks. A game which made me feel like a hero was Beyond Good and Evil, right off the bat with helping the kids in the orphanage, and it also made me feel like a hero when working against the corrupt government.

Helping the towns and tracking down those that were responsible for the problems that were occurring. It gave a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when you were able to set things right for those around you.
Last call. Will close it tomorrow.
The entrants to the raffle were...

1. Landeril
2. clisair
3. Jonesy89
4. RoloTony

...and random.org rolled a 4.

Congrats, RoloTony, and check your PMs.
