Leukocyt: As I have written in my first post something from the action adventure genre would be nice. Or something with a good storyline in general :)

Fenixp: And there you have Planescape again, what DID you find annoying about it?
As for survival horror, I have actually heard a lot of PRAISE for Metro 2033. Or you can play STALKER games.

Normally I love games with a lot of dialog and extensive writing, but Planescape is just so over the top in that regard that it gets on my nerves. I'll probably try that game again at some point, but not now. I need a break from RPGs - finished 4 this year and I'm currently playing 3 (Persona 4, Final Fantasy IX and the Witcher).
As for Metro - I really need to try this game somewhere. I get mixed opinions about it. Some say it's crap, with lot's of bugs and mistakes, others praise it for the atmosphere and plot.
When it comes to STALKER, I had 3 approaches to this game - it lures me with the atmosphere, but when I start playing I realize that for me this game is utterly boring.
But that's just me. I'm weird that way ;)

It's all about how you approach the game, really: Expect an interactive book and you can't get disappointed.

Since developer team is mostly STALKER one, it's probably both. But the game is also a real resource hog.

The game's fantastic, you might want to try and play it with Oblivion lost MOD or a similar modification. Unlimited sprint and enemies who don't take a whole magazine to kill are the key, combined with random anomaly placement.

Leukocyt: What I would really like to play is a good survival horror, but there are pretty much none this gen and I finished most of survival horrors from the past gens, so this is probably out :)

Mentalepsy: Have you already played the original Alone in the Dark (1992), the original Clock Tower (SNES), and the Penumbra games?

I've played all Alone in the Dark games, the 2nd and 4th being my favorite (I, unlike most people also loved the most recent entry). Never played the original Clock Tower, but I recently got my hands on the first PSOne game. Now to be honest (and I do take into consideration that it is an old game) the game's intro alone discouraged me from playing it. The SNES game will be probably very hard to come by though.
From the Penumbra games I have only played Black Plague and while it was great until about 2/3 of the game, it became really silly later and I've never finished it.
Well if you haven't played psychonauts yet I'll throw my vote in for that its amazing. The last level(s) sucks ass but the games so great you kind of forgive that part of it.

It was released for Xbox and PS2 apart from the PC, right?
I'd rather play a platform game on a console. :)

Well, the first level also sucks ass. But, that is what is contained in the demo, and because of the quality of the demo, I shall never purchase the game.
Question.
Did anyone play Singularity?

Leukocyt: Did anyone play Singularity?

/\ Seconded. I really wonder how the game is, but it is said to contain all the annoying design flaws you can think of.

That makes no sense at all, but good for you.
Outcast is very interesting. I'm playing it right now and it feels classic and modern at the same time. Most certainly a game you should try some day. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

What doesn't make sense? If I hate the demo, I don't buy the game? Makes sense to me.
I'm told that the first bit is pretty poor compared to the rest of the game, but I probably could have worded that post in a more useful manner. It wasn't my intent to make noise.

Leukocyt: Guys,
Need some advice.
I just finished playing Another World - amazing game, never played it before. Two nights ago I played through Heard of Darkness on my trusty PSX - did it in one sitting, it's a truly brilliant game and I loved every moment of it.
Also, I have finished Force Unleashed yesterday. The game is nice, has a bit of old-school feel to it and the story is better than Episodes 1-3 combined.
So, what's the problem? I finished two amazing and one very good game and I have no idea what to play next.
So, do you have any recommendations. It would be nice if it would be something in the action/adventure area, but not necessarily. I would prefer if it wasn't an RPG, because I played too much of those lately and I need a break. I would also prefer if it wasn't a FPS unless it's story driven. :)
The game doesn't have to be old. I have a PC and most of the old and new consoles excluding the Wii and the Gamegear, so you can pick games from those platforms :)
Any ideas? :)

You might try Prototype, it's story driven, a bit trite, but they nailed the fun. The XBox 360 version was fine too (sometimes the controls blow on some 360 action games, but this one is fine). In fact, if you liked The Force Unleashed I'm pretty sure you'd like Prototype.
I also enjoyed Overlord and Overlord 2, pretty humorous. Obviously they are a tribute to Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2, so play those first if you haven't.

(more off topic, sorry OP)
Hmm, well, normally it would, but when you receive the additional information that the demo isn't really representative for the rest of the game, why still make a judgement based on it?
Well, I suppose you could extrapolate and imagine the demo, only with awesome, imaginative, CRAZY level design and a whole lot more fun. If you did that and it still didn't appeal to you, I call you CRAZY, but the decision makes sense.
It sounded as if you refused to play the game, despite the fact that people said it got a lot better after the demo, just out of spite or something. But apparently that wasn't really the intended meaning :)

Finished Prototype some time ago. I liked it ;)
I've played the Overlord 1 and 2 demos and while they were fun I can't see myself playing those games from start to finish. Dungeon Keepers on the other hand were fun... but again, played and finished.
You know what seems to be my problem? I just play too damn much :)

I wouldn't presume familiarity with the full game based on the demo, but I would make a purchasing decision based on the demo. I found it extremely boring, honestly, so even if the full game is considerably better, I'd still probably only find it okay at best. If I'd thought the demo was just okay, I'd probably have bought the game based on that advice, but... I just didn't find a single thing to like about it.

My post came off as trolling, but I didn't really mean it that way. I suppose that if I have anything useful to say on the subject, it would probably be "if you start on Psychonauts or play the demo and find it just okay, you should probably stick with it." :)

Played it to completion in a single sitting. The game is an average FPS but the fun of aging people to death etc makes it playable only problem I have is the wait we're gonna have for a sequel there are 3 different endings but it's pretty obvious which way it will go.
