I just bought my first games from GOG, Alone in the Dark 1-3, Gobliiins 1-3 and Zork Anthology. My problem is, when I start these games, only the first frame shows of the game, and I can't get the rest to go on, yet I hear the game playing.

What I have to do is press the windows key, that makes it go out of fullscreen and I can play it. But I want to play in fullscreen. Any ideas?

Ultima 4 works fine, but the others I just bought do not.

I have the same problems, but only with my laptop.

Well, you toggle fullscreen with ALT+ENTER. Try that twice and check if stuff works refullscreened...

We'd also appreciate some hardware specs...

Nope going back to Fullscreen doesn't work. The screen is still frozen while the game plays.

Have you tried different graphic mode options? For each Dosbox game there should be a setup accessible though Menu Start or directly in game folder.

Well, there's your problem. Your video card is complete garbage. :(

Check the conf files (you can make a copy before editing if you want to stay safe). Be sure "fullresolution" is set to your native res. See if that helps matters.

Yeah it's a very cheap laptop, but should that really make it so I'm not able to play Zork fullscreen? 0o
This thing runs TeamFortress2 just fine...

That worked. Thank you, I had no idea there was a setup file..

It's fine for DOSBox, I have a 5732Z (IIRC). Your comment is not really that helpful since the card being garbage is no excuse.

So could my older, crappy GeForce 8400 GS.

That same video card couldn't handle Sega's Genesis Collection emulator.

Anyway, good to see you got help to figure out a way to fix things.

My Asus laptop behaved the same with most (all?) Dosbox-based games. Changing output did not work for me. But disabling Asus's on-screen display "atkosd2" from "msconfig" did the trick. Doing so also also fixes ugly glitches caused by the fancier OSD when I adjust volume.
