They're old games, and I know technically the company can do what they want with them, but is anyone else getting either of these vibes?

1. A last ditch effort to keep the company alive through maximized visibility.

2. Kind of really inappropriate placement, considering it's an indie marketplace.

Anyways, considering they're the same price they are here, I'd definitely recommend getting them here. Not really sure the non-GOG versions have the same guarantee to work.

Uh. At least one other non-indie company is on Desura.

And Interplay's been on Desura for a very long time. They started selling Fallout there back in July 2011!
Yeah, Desura isn't indie exclusive, they're just very friendly and attractive to indie devs because of the ties to IndieDB (and ModDB to a lesser extent).
Ah, I wasn't aware of all that. Nevermind then.

Just think it works much better as an indie marketplace, though.

That's what I thought 4 years ago when I saw them selling Fallout DRM-free on a budding new digital distribution platform.
For old times' sake, I hope they will eventually find SOME way (Black Isle kickstarter ?) to stave off the impending doom (instead of merely delaying it)...

Yeah, it's a shame they just keep hanging on the brink of a critical failure.

Frankly, I don't care if Black Isle comes back only in name, so long as they make good games.

After reading this thread I moseyed on over to check their website - on the front page one of the tweets from them about 30 days ago reads that "we don't intend to go out of business anytime soon!" Apparently someone had tweeted that they had thought interplay had gone out of business and were surprised to run across them on twitter. While it's good that Interplay expresses some measure of confidence, one can hope deservedly and the use of the word "intend" notwithstanding, the fact that they have to say it at all is not a good sign for them.

I found the following also on their front page:
What do Bioware, Blizzard, High Voltage, Planet Moon, Shiny, Snowblind, Treyarch and Volition have in common? They were all once published by Interplay!

If you have developed a game, Interplay is interested in becoming your publisher. Click here for submission details.
I know what they are trying to say, but there's more than a dose of nostalgic sentiment in the above: "once and no longer".
