I don't know the game, but judging by the age and the genre I can tell it wasn't easy. Well done :)

Save...game?

You new-fangled people you. Castlevania doesn't have save games. It's hip and cool and requires you to start from the beginning when you die.

(The sarcasm isn't intended to berate games that don't have save games - I love Castlevania too - but the difficulty level on that game really is punishing).

I only broke 10 or 12 NES controllers the first week.

I can only say long live emulators with save states.

Until the third level, the game is easy. But when the third stage starts, it's a pain.
Those Igor enemies are the worst thing you can find in this game and yes, Frankenstein is one of the hardest boss of the game (because that damned Igor that throw fireball every single moment).
Then, there's Death. But passing the corridor before reaching it, it's a pain. All the Medusa heads, the armored knight...the first time I managed to pass easily that section using the stop watch, but then Death kills me in two seconds.
After that, I acquired the boomerang, but passing that corridor was a nightmare :|
Dracula stage, otherwise, is very easy, except that Igor part with flying birds. The boss itself is easy (jump, hit its head, repeat), when he turns into a monster, I simply throw him all the boomerang I have, hitting him with whip.

But the game is hard, yes.

Well done! Let me present you with a certificate of awesomeness! But enough rest for you, vampire slayer! There is still Castlevania 2 and 3 waiting for you...

I only complete Castlevania 1, Symphony of the Night (well, that was easy, but I completed it fully, including the Richter scenario and reverted castle) and Lords of Shadow (on Paladin, but without DLC).
