Ive been looking around on the internet for the while now but have had little luck. So I thought Id ask the experts we have here on GoG: What is the first game to use voice acting? The earliest game Ive been able to find seems to be Kings Quest 5, but are there any earlier?
Thanks
Voice acting? Dominic? Armato? :-D
Mission Impossible ? Just kidding. it only had a few samples and hardly any acting :P

Does Deus Ex Machina (Speccy) and its audio sync tape counts as VA ?
Well, a little searching reveals this... Ys: Book I & II. released in october 1989, according to that site, making it about 6 months or so earlier than KQ5.
That's assuming you're looking for something will a reasonable amount of VA, rather than a couple of digitized clips.
I'm not sure it counts but in 1983 Dragons Lair was released for Arcades - it is a first laserdisc video game. It was ported to every game system ever (1989 to PC I think but I am not sure if there was any voice in this one).
Also I am not sure if 1989 release was before or after Ys Book 1&2. Still 1983 arcade version was fully talkie and has smooth cartoon animations.

The OP doesn't mention that it has to be a PC game or whatever, so I think we have a winner. Didn't realise it was released in 1983 (I only heard of the '89 version for PC)!

1988 (unless you want to count Dragons Lair, but that one cheated :P )
There wasn't any real voice acting, but there was a guy saying "the adventures of bayou billy" at the beginning. Pretty impressive for a NES game. I think there were other spots with talking, I don't recall.
The first game with "voice acting" that I've played was Mirax Force from 1987 on my Atari 65XE. All it could say was "Mirax Force!" on title screen and "Game over", but I was really impressed back then :).
What about that Journey arcade game that played one of their songs via tape deck when you beat it?
The earliest game I can think of with any kind of voice acting is Sinistar.
You guys are a bunch of whippersnappers. Listing games form 1988? Berserk had voice in 1980 There was probably something before that too.
