I'm having issues with my new flight stick. In the game Options / Controls setting I can actually assign the buttons on my stick. When I hit the button, it registers in the game and looks like it's assigned. In game, however the flight stick buttons don't work for most (this is the odd part) of the keys. Trim assignments work fine, some of the view shifts and game specific button presses don't work.

Is it typical for flight sticks to have mapping issues? I'm a bit new to them, and I was wondering if there are tweaks I can use. I know this is probably a game specific issue (and I did make a post in the game subforum) but I was wondering if there are more general mapping issues and "generic" adjustments that can be made to ensure a stick works the best it can in a game.

Thanks in advance! And yes, I did download a different set of drivers - same issues.

No, it's not common that a game registers input in the options menu but then input doesn't work in-game. It's most definitely a game specific problem. And it would REALLY help us help you if you just mentioned the game's title here.
Sure it's B-17.

Could it be a Dosbox issue? I'm assuming (maybe wrongly?) that the game is running in Dosbox - could that be it? I felt bad giving the name because I know I should have stuck to the game subforum, but I wanted to steal the traffic in the main forum as the sub is a bit dead ;)
