Here he talks about Troika, Fallout, Arcanum and RPG design in general. Quite an interesting read.

And an annoying one, so much we could have had -_-

On Arcanum 2:

The sequel was based loosely on Jules Verne's A Journey to the Center of the Earth, where we planned to continue the adventures of the great explorer Franklin Payne. He has disappeared into the bowels of the earth, and his wife has hired you to find him. We had laid out most the storyline, and it included finding prehistoric monsters, subterranean humanoids, and most thrilling of all, a clue about how magic and tech can be reconciled in the same artifact, something that most learned people had believed to be impossible.

If only... T_T
Also, the TOEE engine pitches that were never picked up (Baldurs Gate 3!) and how Fallout 2 was taken from him...

Argh!
Maybe Obsidian will use some of the profits from Wasteland 2 to buy / licence the Arcanum IP from Activision / whoever owns it now..?

Sierra, probably. Are they still around?

Incidentally, if Tim Cain and company ran a Kickstarter for Arcanum 2, my head would probably explode.

Obligatory Black Isle fanboy correction.
No matter how good you look, people will move on to the next pretty thing and forget about you. If you make a fun game, people will remember that.
Great words from the interview.

Oops.

Edit: I assume the inXile/Obsidian agreement with Wasteland 2 would involve some amount of the profits going to Obsidian?

Maybe Obsidian will use some of the profits from South Park: The Stick of Truth to buy / licence the Arcanum IP from Activision/Blizzard..?

hehe, yeah I don't know, they didn't give the specifics, so I'm not sure if Obsidian will see any W2 monies. Obsidian's Chris Avellone (FO2; Torment, KOTOR2) is working on W2 so I guess he's getting paid by inXile and maybe Obsidian is getting something for having him "borrowed", I wouldn't expect more than that.

If there's one developer I would trust with Arcanum 2 it's Obsidian, but I don't see it happening...
