I guess I never noticed before, but when you live in the US and purchase from GOG, is it normal to get charged extra money on your credit card? I bought Witcher 2 and got charged an extra $1.74 for "Foreign Transaction Fee."

I get charged 18 cents. Some banks do it even though the transaction is digital just to make extra money. :(

Some banks do it, some don't. It all depends what kind of package deal you get on your credit card.

Ah. Well, this is a new card. Perhaps this bank charges...either that or I just never noticed.

I'd possibly look into getting another card and even maybe linking it to your current bank account so you don't have to change banks.

Unless your credit card company considers using paypal a foreign transaction, you will never get charged a foreign fee because to the card company, whether you use paypal to buy from the us, uk, europe or australia (and all the others in between), the transaction always takes place in the same place. Paypal are the middle man. They pay whomever and take the money from you via bank or card.

I did not get charged. My CC does charge on "foreign exchange": if they have to pay a vendor in euros or pounds etc., they'll charge a commission on that. But not on a dollar-denominated transaction with a foreign vendor. Other CCs may have different fees.

I just noticed this the other day too. It varies buy how expensive my purchase was.

I guess it depends on the CC in question or i' don't really know. But the person who lets me use a CC to buy stuff here has gotten charged that "nominal fee".

For me 18 cents is ok, and i'd rather not use another system just to save such a pittance.
