Ok, not that this will fix your Witcher-2-threads-in-General problem, but one thing I like about Steam is that they have a link to relevant forums on each games' page, in your case each games' gamecard

GOG has links to each game forum in your account page, with the idea being that is the first place you are going to look if you are having problems.

I agree this would be a good idea - the forums now often have lists of fan-made mods or patches which may help sway somebody when making a purchasing decision.
