I would love to see a copy of Freelancer on GOG.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freelancer_%28video_game%29
It was one of the best space shooter games I've played which came way before Darkstar One. However, I remember playing it and it crashing on me every time I got to this one point so I couldn't get any further. So it would be awesome to see a copy on gog and I would definatly buy it. :)
Anybody else thinks so?
Firstly, please use the Wishlist to ask GOG for certain games.
Secondly, the rights to Freelancer are owned by Microsoft, so i wouldn't hold my breath on seeing that game here. Stranger things HAVE happened, but Microsoft just doesn't seem the type of company.... *shrug*
I didn't enjoy Freelancer back in the days... too much expectations I suppose. It was marketed as the perfect blend between Starlancer and Freespace, but ended up as a strange mix between Diablo and Starlancer, without any trace of my beloved Freespace...
It would be nice to have it on Gog though. Still a good game, that somewhat influenced the genre.
I did enjoy it, though having waited 5 years for it, it did disappoint a wee bit, but then again it would have to have been damned special.
I get the idea that some of the original content was cut out, as if you look on youtube, you will find that the original intro for the game was longer, setting up the story.
Microsoft have released the copyright on a number of their old games. There's a greater chance of that happening with Freelancer than it coming here. Microsoft just aren't at all interested in the PC as a gaming platform anymore.
You must sacrifice a goat. Only then will the gods consider.
Freelancer... still one of my all-time faves and one of the few games that stays installed on my PC all the time. Having it here is totally improbable though.
Freelancer also had a rather intriguing co-op multiplayer. Also, there were tons of mods out which extended the life of the game. I remember playing one where you had Battlestar Galactica Vipers,. Babylong 5 ships, Star Wars fighters, the Aliens dropship and others.
If anyone was wondering, I just installed Freelancer (original disc) and tried it under Vista 64. Plain and with the latest patch.
The game runs fine and looks surprisingly good for an almost 10 year old game.

My favorite aspect of Freelance was the multi-player server that I ran. I would run the server for literally months at a time and my friends that owned the game and others I knew on the forums I used to haunt would log in and play the game as if it were a mini MMO almost. All of us doing different things and playing together was really fun. Some of us were compbat pilots, some were traders, and some were pirates. Man that was a good time!
I tried reinstalling my Freelancer and I couldn't get a MP "key" due to MS dropping online support although there are work arounds that people have set up...
