Aren't there about 15 threads about this already ? :)
Yeah, I'm stoked. I missed out on the Kickstarter, and it's killing me, so I can't wait til I can play it.

Actually, forum search didn't reveal any and I didn't see one in the first page and a half of recent posts.

GOG's search function could use some improvement, so I can relate, but you really did miss your boat:

Yeah, the search function is really broken... Ah well, no worries :)
Been hearing so many good things about it. I have the beta, but not the time :(

This is one of those rare occasions where I wish every day would last 48 hours instead of 24.
They recently released the beta to all backers, so I've been playing that (yay) on Steam (boo). Can't wait for the 14th so I can get my GOG key and install a DRM-free version.

Oh, but FTL is a roguelike-like, so you don't need much time to play it. A single run typically takes less than an hour, and sometimes you get blown to pieces within the first few minutes. Plus, you can save and quit.

If you are in the lucky position of being able to sleep whenever you want, you could try monophasic sleep. 22 hours of awake time!
Steam activated the game as retail. Is the game finished or are they just using the retail slot for their beta?
So what exactly is it? I can't really tell from the screenshots. It just looks like your ship flies eternally to the right while you manage your crew and they auto fire at whatever's near.

Oh, and if anyone isn't interested in the Steam code they got, I wouldn't mind it. >.>

That is not enough.

It's a game that allows you to take the captain's chair of a starship. For example, you've watched shows like Farscape or Star Trek where you watch the captain give orders and the crew carries them out or when the ship that's the star of the show gets boarded by aliens and they have to fight them off in order to survive. Well, that's what FTL is in a nutshell: you are the captain and you command your crew to perform various functions on the ship while fending off aliens, enemies, and even enemy aliens :D.

I hope my answer helps :D

Yeah, that actually helps a lot. It sounds like what everyone's been hoping for for a while, but no one seems to want to (or those that attempt it always seem to get it wrong).
