Hull breach or open airlock?

Where the doors closed?

Edit: Ninja ;-)

On a side note. In dangerous sectors I always vent every compartment except the ones where the crew is working. This, combined with a few blast doors, makes short work of any intruder. (or fire)

Were you powering the oxygen generator? I've seen people power it down accidentally and not notice until everyone starts suffocating.

I seem to get a perverse glee from suffocating any would-be invaders. I know I really shouldn't, but seeing the stupid tits warp into an airless room, only to suffocate while impotently banging away at my improved blast doors is just so satisfying.

You can assign as little or as much power as you wan to any of your systems (up to the maximum, naturally). It's pretty much always a bad idea to not power your oxygen generator, but nevertheless the option is available.
Primary systems (which includes O2 systems) need to be powered. Subsystems do not. Since you begin with 1 less power than what is needed to fully power all your systems, if you O2 systems are damage, and you fully power the rest of your ship, your O2 systems will not have power when repaired and you crew will slowly suffocate.

Note that there are times when briefly depowering the O2 systems is a fine idea if your desperate for power. Some events temporarily remove most of your ship's power and throw you right into combat, leaving you scrambling for any power you can muster.

lukew: Intabought and downloaded. Tried it on my netbook (I'm in work) and it doesn't even start. I'm now very annoyed that I have to wait until I get home to play it... This day is really, really, gonna drag.
The game is strictly 1280x720 or higher.

Yeah, like when they should things like "Divert all power from life support to the shields!" in Star Trek.

I've never played FTL, but i've heard that it is awsome. I read this article in a gaming magazine where this guy describes his adventures as a space captain in FTL, and his first battle was very harrowing, he was clearly overmatched, and yet managed to win the day anyways with his clever strategy.

all in all, reading that article made me want to play the game pretty bad. but i lose interest in things in the last second, so whatever.

this post is boring me, i'm going to go watch star wars.

LOL
Only played for about 45 minutes, but I've already lost 3 times. Really enjoying the game though, it seems pretty awesome. :D

old school then.
Dammit... I think I'm about to hand over some money to GOG for this game without waiting for a promo. -_________-

I did it for KoDP too. I'm turning into such a GOG yes man. :(

/me plays Black Mesa, quits to read GOG and look at FTL...
I need to start remembering that you can escape from scary battles..
Sad ending. Have flushed the oxygen out of most of the ship, and got a hit on the door control systems. My wounded crew is locked in various rooms, and can't go repair the door control system because it's too deep in the oxygen-less part of the ship, and takes too long to repair. And of course, I can't shut the outer doors anymore.

Would make a great candidate for a random encounter. If one of you could stumble upon my ship and send a droid to repair my doors, in exchange for some scrap or whatever. Oh well.

Anyway. Met the rebel flagship today. Scary thing. Am still playing on "easy". With a Zoltan cruiser, it helps. Especially the second layout. I guess I got lucky to unlock that one on one of my first runs.

Don't even know why I'm typing all this. I just kind of love that game.
