Gonna smoke me some pork!

Hogs of War, a pork-flavored turn-based strategy classic with multiplayer for 4 and cheeky sense of humor is available on GOG.com 60% off. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours.

Arm your Hogs of War to the teeth with a choice of 40 different weapons including sniper rifles, bazookas, mines, jetpacks, cluster grenades, and tanks to fight for one of six different pig armies, each one based on a real nation from the First World War-era: Great Britain, Russia, Germany, Japan, France, or the USA. There's an explosive 25 level single player campaign for you to take on, and an addictive online multiplayer mode for up to four players. You can customize your squad as you promote your hogs from Grunt to Officer in one of four different classes - Heavy Weapons, Medic, Espionage, or Engineer - your swine will learn more skills and acquire the use of a wider range of weaponry. All this with a solid serving of cheeky sense of humor brought to life by the vocal talents of renowned British comedian Rik Mayall.

If you are open to some over-the-top humor in your turn-based strategy games take Hogs of War for a spin, for only $2.39 until Tuesday, December 2, at 10:59AM GMT.

BranjoHello: And it gets better, Drop Dead Fred is doing the humor part. :)
I suppose this is as good a time as any to bring out the King Herod clip.

Treasure: ...example is the announcement for this year's GOG Xmas sale, that has shown up hours-or even days-before the actual sale because someone searched and found the thing and then posted there...
Do I understand that GOG's 2014 Winter sale dates and details have been leaked? Might you have a discrete pointer on where I could find this information? A quick forum glance suggests GOG may have swept it back under the rug.

There was a forum post that was accidentally leaked on early Monday and deleted sometime after the gem promo went live. While there were some details in the announcement (such as flash sales that would last 48 hours and daily bundles lasting 11 days), no specific dates were provided.

Wow! I had almost forgotten about this game. I remember playing the demo countless times on my PS1. I'll have to buy this one eventually. :)

BranjoHello: As I picked the game as soon as it was released for one of my giveaways, I don't believe the information you provided is correct. AFAIK the first discount on this game was -50% during November sale.

drewpants: But does the AI move on the PC version? If not there is zero reason for me to pick this up (I still have the PSX version).

BranjoHello: The fact that AI doesn't move in PC version doesn't ruin the game at all. It's an artillery game, it's all about precision, so the AI is supposed to miss a lot in earlier mission and become more accurate with it's shots later (along with having more health). And if you have someone to play with in hot-seat, this is a perfect game for that.
If you have a working PSX version then there would be no reason to pick this game even if the AI was moving (and it NEVER did in any PC version of the game, so probably it NEVER will).
Bottom line is that the game is FUN and it's running perfectly on modern systems.
I take your point, but with the AI able to move the game was made a lot more interesting. Good on gog for having this game and even better for having it on promo but with the superior PSX version with a soundtrack that plays from the disk... this is a no-go for me.

drewpants: superior PSX version
I don't work for GOG, I don't get or loose anything if you buy the game or not.
But the PSX version is by no means superior. The only thing that it's better for is the moving AI and as I mentioned that is NOT A BIG DEAL as some people here are mentioning.

Here's the same level on PC and PSX so look for yourself and decide:
PC version -> pretty
PSX version -> not so pretty

Wow there - I dig that you like the game and that's great. I really like it too - on the PSX.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, as for me graphics are below gameplay in terms of importance. I'm sure for some people the not moving isn't a big deal (although you seem to be the only 'people' who have made this point explicitly) and that they will enjoy this release - which is good news all round.

Now, lets leave our rifles in the trenches and have a game of football eh?

Merry Christmas. :-)
