I can help make that happen.

soulgrindr: Mig Alley.
though it needs a bit of tweaking to get working these days. not impossible though.

That would be awesome. To this day, Mig Alley still is one of my favorite flight sims (if not my all-time favorite).

i hear IL2 might be better, but other than that, i think it has a good shot.
If you're into World War I, I'd definitely recommend Rise of Flight. I had been very hesitant at first to buy it, mainly because it seemed to be lacking in content, and I was at first displeased by the fact that you have to pay for more planes, but a recent patch has added a campaign, a quick mission generator, and an offline mode. Modders have also been working on a dynamic campaign generator similar to Red Baron II, and the developers are working to get community skins incorporated into the game. I haven't played the multiplayer yet, though.
When you see the amount of detail and authenticity put into the planes, the four that come with the game can keep you well occupied as you attempt to master them. And I'm really glad that the developers aim to improve the game and enhance the experience you paid for, while funding it through optional planes. If they charged for plane skins, that would be ridiculous. Sorry if it appears that I'm trying to sell you the game haha, but it really exceeded my expectations.
Edit: Sorry, I missed what you wrote about WWI, but I suppose this post is for anyone else.

Thank you but I am not touching anything with extreme DRM.

That's fine, neither would I. The game doesn't require an internet connection to play anymore, only to activate the key. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought it.
I tried and played some F-19 on my Steem. I still have the original game for the ST somewhere around. One thing I noticed, even after a lot of work, even after all these years, ST games do not like "analog" joysticks. Still good game after all these years though.
I am currently reading the manual of the Enemy Engaged series (GOG). Funny thing is the games although obviously more detailed, feel easier to learn than say the old Gunship and Gunship 2000.
As for planes, Some time next week or so, I plan on getting the Strike Fighters 2 from Third Wire. They have a vista version so I will see how it goes.
In the meantime, I continue to hope there will be more flight sims released through GOG. Together with adventure games they were the main reason one would buy a PC for games back then. There is MANY sims out there from the 80s and 90s.

I have IL-2, and both are good on their own right, but they are quite different. IL-2 is about prop warbirds, and Mig Alley is focused on the early jet dogfights during the Korean War. Also, Mig Alley has a much more "interactive" dynamic campaign. As I said, I love both games, but Mig Alley does have a special place in my heart.
The Red Baron Pack sold here. Enough said. :D

Yes, red baron is good.
But he wants modern era games, not WW1 or WW2...

No problem man. ;)
*GOGers here would beat me if I said that I've never played Mig Alley*... Ohhh wait, shame.
But I'm interested in the game. There isn't many games set in Korea, Vietnam, and so on.
Sure is a lot of MiG Alley talk in here...
That title sounds very interesting, but the problem is that I first heard of it WELL after Win9x was long abandoned in favor of XP, Vista, multi-core CPUs, DX10 GPUs that usually screw up DX7 and prior, etc. In short, it really needs the GOG treatment.
All I know is that it could make for an interesting change of pace compared to WWI and WWII sims (slow, sensitive prop fighters with guns) and modern jet sims (fast fly-by-wire jets mostly blowing each other away from well beyond visual range thanks to the AIM-120 AMRAAM and similar missiles) in that the aircraft are all jets, but there's probably no homing missiles since it's a Korean War sim and not a Vietnam War one.
Oh, and before I forget, does it support TrackIR? Can't live without that now.
Ohhhh the memories of MiG Alley. We had one of those "Suction cup" style flight simulators, the type that uses suction cups to fix the flight wheel and stick/whatever to the desk. Remember it sliding all the hell over and me following it to play the game haha.
