The early roman empire's time.

Pretty much the early - high medieval era interests me the most (bit MTW2 fan) with the crusades being of particular interest.
Also gaining an interest in the India aspect of the British Empire as my great grandmother (who I knew) was born whilst her father served for the EITC.

My favorite time in history is the time of the Byzantine Empire. I just love the history of it's transition into power and eventual downfall. I also love the Napoleonic time in history, and the warfare waged at the time.

Thank you blakstar. My favorite period of history is also the one we don't know anything about, the beginnings of the human race. Where did we come from? How did we get here? God, evolution, aliens crash landed? I would love to time travel back to that period to learn about us. It would be so enlightening and fascinating.
You didn't ask but my second favorite would be the formation of the universe. What brought about the universe and how? God, big bang or again, aliens heh.

Medieval again for me. It's an interesting area, and of course it has large crossovers with mythology and so fantasy, as used in games like Ars Magica and Darklands, while still keeping a link with the truth and realism which high fantasy can often lack.

Ancient Egypt. The Pharaoh's, King Tut, Cleopatra, construction of the Pyramids, the cradle of civilization man - what could be better?

So many favorite periods (I love reading History): Dark Ages, Ancient Roma (from the founding of the City until the Fall of the Byzantine Imperium), Greek (specially wars between polis, or against Persia) and Egypt, the older civilization by the Tigris and the Eufrates, WWI and II...
