FraterPerdurabo: And Ep1 also has some of the worst level design I've ever encountered. I fail to see why people get a big dick about this game.
Most non-fanboys agree Episode 1 was pretty weak. I don't even like Episode 2 that much, to be honest.

The original game is amazing though.

Yeah, I enjoyed the original HL2 quite a bit. Unfortunately the gunplay really is weak though.
About half way though Ep2 right now and I am enjoying it quite a bit more than the previous one. Hoping that Ep3 will continue on the same track!

StingingVelvet: I think I am going to play through a ton of old adventure games with a walkthrough. Games I have been meaning to play for years and years but never did.

Why use a walkthrough? Because adventure games can be really annoying, and because I don't see myself playing through them otherwise when I have a huge list of RPGs and shooters to play through, which I enjoy more.

So... have you ever given in to the walkthrough? See anything wrong with it? Good way to experience an old classic you never played before?
Of course! If it's a choice between that and never experiencing the rest of the game (or the game at all) the walkthrough it is! I have limited time, depending on how much fun I'm having I will spend more or less time working on a roadblock. If it's a pisser and I'm no longer having fun then I go for a walkthrough or cheese tactic, because my goal is to revel in the fun parts not the rolling in shit parts.
It's not shameful to use a walkthrough if needed. Sometimes you just need a little push or otherwise don't have time to figure something out.

But depending on a walkthrough or using it to play an entire game does diminish the experience. Adventure games are all about the reward of solving puzzles. If you rely on a walkthrough, you miss that feeling of sweet satisfaction.
