We know you're busy people, but would you like to contribute to an even better GOG? How about taking 5 minutes of your time to make the GOG experience an outstanding one?

Our main goal when designing GOG.com was to create the best user experience in digital distribution ever. Many say we're doing it right, but we want to get even better, that's why we're launching a survey that will help us lead GOG in the way you'd like it to go. Taking part in it isn't required of course, but if you want to have your share in making GOG the best digital distribution service there is (or at least even better than it is right now) and maybe win a free game, devote few minutes of your time to answer couple questions we've prepared. From all users who will take part in the survey, we'll randomly choose 20 who will receive a free GOG game of their choice. Grab a pencil... er, a keyboards in your hands and answer the below questions for a better future for all of us :)

The survey ends on Thursday, October 27 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Before coming to GOG, I was an active Steam user. I just couldn't stand any longer that no matter how much money I paid, I never actually owned anything, just the permission to use it. Would you like to pay for permission to use toilet paper, and black coats can come reclaim it at their liking?

I agree but I don't like the toilet paper example, since that's consumable. You already pay a monthly fee for toilet paper and the TP companies could stop making it available if they wanted to, and you would run out, so that's a bad example.

A better example is a real investment, like a TV or a car. How would you like it if you paid for permission to use a TV, and at any time Sony or Panasonic could come into your house and say "sorry, we think you've been watching shows we don't approve of, so we're taking this TV away -- didn't you read the license agreement that says we can do that?"

That's what Steam and pretty much all modern DRM is like. GOG forever!
The problem with comparing virtual goods, i.e. consisting only of information, like music, books, movies and games to real goods, i.e. consisting of real material, like cars, cupboards, toilet paper is that virtual goods are much more easily copyable. That's where the need for DRM or some sort of control was created in the first place.

Some customers can live with it - they use Steam or Origin or .... Others find it too much bothering, they found older games DRM free on GOG.

Now the trend for future gaming is anyway server based with only clients distributed. There DRM free will die out because there won't be any standalone programm anymore. So my guess is that the current business model of GOG will fade out in the long run.

But in the medium run much more is gained if the number of DRM free titles is maximized here on GOG with old, ancient and completely new titles. All the people who say they will not buy new titles ... perfectly okay, as long as one (a certain very small number) buys the new titles they were successful, i.e. increased the profit. GOG does not have much costs in offering even a title that not many people want to buy.

That's the definition of freedom for me = maximizing the possibilities.
I can't help to think this is going offtopic , don't get me wrong almost all posts I've red are valid and DRM free games is the reason I've joined G.o.G in the 1st place.
Anyway ...
Adding "new" games seems a good Idea , there are a lot of good games that are overlooked since no one knows they even exist.
In my opinion the review section could use some improvements stuff like rating sound, gameplay, graphics etc. , perhaps being able to attach media.
Hell even propose a review for deletion if 80% of the people agree to it.
I've always been willing to pay a $10 surcharge for a DRM-free version of a new game. Would so easily be worth the extra cost to me. Sadly, no publisher offers the option. I'd totally love it if GOG was the first!
Ok,

I'm new to these forums or maybe I'm just being retarded, but I don't see any type of link or place to take this survey??

~Thanks.

Your browser is probably blocking the "jotfrm" (Something like that) permissions. I had to manually allow them because I use No-script with firefox.

Also, I should change my avatar pic to something else. Yours out-cools mine.
Came to GoG for the games, sang their praises for being what I want from Steam, with none of the clunky, intrusive and unnecessary bits. Admittedly, I still use Steam, but only because I want to play online with mates that have moved out of town. And the games we want to play are forced to use Steam. The only features that Steam has that could possibly be an improvement on GoG are multiplayer accessibility and facilitation, and communication. But those are by no means necessary, and certainly not worth the cost of requiring a client to impliment.

(Also, I have more games from here [both free and paid for] than I have from Steam)

I'm using chrome and I didn't get any pop errors. I'll try another browser.

Mog is awesome, there isn't much more to say than that, lol. I'd have to look, but I'm sure I have more FF thumbs and such somewhere on between all my drives...busy moving and going through all the stuff from my old computer onto this one.
I enjoyed filling out this survey. It asked me most of the questions that I would have wanted to be asked and answer on a G.o.G. survey.
OK, I hate to ask the dumb question, but did I completely mis-read the question about providing newer titles? I could have sworn the question was whether I would like to see DRM-free newer titles on GOG, and how much I would pay for that, but I'm seeing a lot of discussion of the possibility of GOG providing DRMed titles here in the forums. I have refused to buy modern titles at $5 over especially crippling DRM and would like to see GOG remain completely DRM-free if possible.

Can someone let me know if I read the survey utterly wrong so I can write them an e-mail and beg them to disregard my response to that question if necessary?

No, you didn't read the question wrong. It's just that much of the gaming community would insinuate that DRM is implied with the proposal of a new release.

It's not entirely their fault that their view is so pessimistic as many publishers have shown the poorest of response against any perceived threat of piracy. Even with the Witcher 2, CDP (or rather Namco Bandai, the publisher) had released the retail game with some minimal CD-check DRM and removed it promptly after release (which was planned, of course), to which Namco Bandai's response has been to pursue litigation.

So don't worry about GOG changing. Rather, the issue is still the complicit nature of our purchase habits.
as a turk, i frankly dont want buying games with local currency. local currency means taxation and we are already being taxed to death
