This is a question I would like answered from the GOG staff.
Will GOG ever release their games catalog on Steam?

I don't want to hear all you guys bitching and compaining about Steam and DRM blaa blaa.
The fact is, MANY MANY people LIKE and PREFER steam over ever other alternative out there (myself included).
I don't see it instrusive in any way, and in fact, I really *do not want* to buy games on anything OTHER than Steam. It is easy and convenient and just works. If you don't like it, thats fine, you can keep using gog.com. But many people do like Steam and would ONLY buy the games on their.

So personally I see no harm with GOG releasing their games on Steam. They are exposing themselves to a HUGE market (there are over 30million active steam users) and people like myself would love to play thier childhood favourites again.

So can someone from GOG please give an honest answer if they have any plans to release on Steam?
Why would a distributor distribute through another distributor?
Hu...
How to put it.

You do know GOG doesn't make the game they sell here right?
Hey guys when is Walmart gonna start selling their stuff through Amazon?
Well GOG is a distributor - it's up to the publishers where they release a game. GOG has no to limited control over where a publisher decides to distribute unless they specify in the contract some sort of limited-time exclusivity. That's about all GOG has control over. GOG doesn't decide where games get distributed other than for their own site. They don't own those rights.

EDIT: triple ninja'd

I'm not part of GOG, but I think I can say with confidence: NO.

GOG's philosophy is no DRM. Steam is DRM. Even if you overlook the fact that they're competing entities, I can't see any way they'd even consider something like this.
GOG can't release games on Steam, because they don't onw right to games they are selling.
Aww, bigredron I dunno whether to laugh or pet you :p
GOG putting games on Steam wouldn't make any sort of sense. And it's not even up to GOG anyway.

It's the right-holders for each game that decide where they want their games to be distributed.

Edit: super-ninja'd, I am slow incarnate

What other people said.
If you really want your games on Steam for some reason, I have found that using the "add a none-steam game" feature works most of the time. Overlay doesn't always work though.

I am hoping this is just a troll.

I... just... wow.

This is both the funniest and saddest thing I have read today. Funny because, well... isn't it obvious; sad because of the shitstorm the OP is going to incur for his ignorance.
If you want an answer direct from the staff email them at users@gog.com or pm one
Dont this posting read like a troll?

What exposing to a huge market? You make it sound like GOG is selling a pyhsical good only in their country or something. GOG makes games available to all. If steam users are too stubborn to come to GOG, well so be it. I've seen good reasons to boycott such as drm but oh it's not all in the same place (except that it really is, just doesn't show up in a 3rd party client list) is pretty weak.
I'm Witcher Geralt and this is my favourite thread in Temeria.
