I played a little JA2 on my wife's Surface Pro; it seemed perfectly fine via touch.
I've seen my friend playing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on his Windows 8 tablet. Worked pretty well :)
I'd be curious to learn whether the Ultima games are playable on a touch-only device.
Not on GOG but you can try The Elder Scrolls: Arena. I play it on my phone all the time, although I do have a physical keyboard I'm pretty sure there is an onscreen button for every action. Using a weapon works great however. The way attacks work on a PC it that you hold down the mouse button and move the mouse around to perform chops, slashes andstabs. On the touch screen I basically just swipe my finger across an enemy and the sword follows that movement. It works out so well that some stranger on the bus was watching me play and didn't believe that it was an old DOS game not made for touchscreen.

Nice! If JA2 works well on my surface then I pretty much won't need any other game to keep me occupied!

That would be good news too. How about daggerfall?

I should probably try Lands of Lore as well, that might work well.

Most of the earlier ones probably wouldn't work as they are heavily keyboard dependant. Haven't really played the newer ones though.

I played Ultima VII with Exult on an old HTC Windows Mobile phone, I think it was an HTC Touch, it was somewhat slow but I was able to move the Avatar around and all. I think nowadays you have a port of Exult for everything including the PSP :D.
I'm currently on the fence to buy a transormer T100 so I'm also checking the possibilities of touchscreen gaming on those kind of hybrid computer. I've found a thread on reddit so let's add some gog games that should be playable on a win8 tablet:

All of the ScummVM adventure games are playable with touch. Broken Sword is one series I'm playing through right now.

Tried Fallou 1 and it does NOT work.
Can't even START the game ...
Hi guys, I too have an asus transformer book t100

I'm playing grimrock right now,
I bought GestureWorks Gameplay (sorry can't post links)
and it helps with recent games that are keyboard dependent (and more).
I plan to play Colonization (latest) and civ 4 with it.
However it doesn't work with older games since I've read it works with games that rely on DirectX 9c and above.
(too bad, I wanted to play to good old Alpha Centauri)

For Grimrock, it helped me by adding bigger buttons for movement, and buttons with R for resting.
I implemented mouse look with a two finger drag gesture => mapped to "relative mouse moves".
Right now, there are missing features to ease right clicks, but new features may be added.

I've not really played with the arrow option and tablet mode without this gamegesture stuff, I'll check that out.

There is also Palmtime Vvirtualgamepad (sorry can't post links) which I have not tried.

Thanks for sharing games that play well with touch screen... precisely what I'm hunting !
I'm a fan of JA2, gotta try this one. Also, I'll have a close look a HoMM3 !
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 works quite well with touch on my Lenovo miix 2 10

FTL works if you follow the directions: www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23952

Alpha Centauri works perfectly.

Planescape: Torment works perfectly once you DISABLE the ddrawfix. I think this fix was intended to correct something that Microsoft eventually fixed. When I had ddrawfix enabled, every time I clicked the screen I could see a big square with the desktop underneath. Disabling the "fix" corrected the error.

Edit re: Arcanum. The "touchmouse.dll" written by someone called Nomad1 works well; it's available on github through google. It's supposed to mostly work with Fallout 2, but I haven't tested it.

Also, Jayel in another GoG thread (www.gog.com/forum/general/dosbox_and_windows_8_touchscreen_tablets) posted a fix for DosBox and ScummVM games, though I haven't tested it.

I'm really curious if Wasteland 2 works... anyone else have confirmed success with any other games?
