LoboBlanco: Well I didn´t take into account the age of the rest of the members before thinking about the worm naming.
Folks on GOG skew older, I think. You'd probably be free to make up the dirtiest names. :)
Me Minecraft server keeps me pretty busy but, they DO call it Windows for a reason B]

I'd be interested enough to make some time for a few rounds... and buy the games too, I suppose.

Didn't you have another tournament-league thing a few months ago? I swear I remember posting on something to that effect.
Interested, yes. YES I AM

adaliabooks: You can get a tablet from the vets for that...

Sachys: ...and now foxworks bum problem is out of the way, anybody interested in the Worm Armageddon League?!
I must have that tablet! *scoots across sachys' rug

I may be up for a little Armageddon ;-)
Already talked to Sachys - if you're really starting up a league, you can count me in, absolutely :)
So I logged in to the game to see how the MP works (I know Sachys, I said evening, but...this was more interesting than work so....(I decided to work at home today so please spare me the look!)) Against the assumption, I'm actually not a Worms Armageddon veteran at all, I didn't even have the game yet an hour ago. It's Worms Reloaded that I've spent most of my time on.

So anyway, apparently matchmaking is a lot different in W:A than it is in W:R. In W:R you simply choose a scheme and hit Create a Lobby, and then you simply wait. Here, it's much more complicated because players apparently connect directly to the host's IP. Now, for some reason I couldn't make my lobby work - it might be because I'm using a router and I would need to do some port forwarding, but after browsing the internet I came to the conclusion that it's not possible with the model I have. Then again, I was able to join some random guy's game...I'm really not the expert here. But anyway, here's a few options to matchmaking that should work at least in theory:

Direct connecting (Joining).
- 1st screen (main menu): Press the lower left button (play over local area network or internet)
- 2nd screen: first of all, choose your nickname. Then, type the host's IP address in the bottom bar. The easiest way for the host to figure out their IP is to go here http://www.whatsmyip.org/

Direct connecting (Hosting). Like I said, I couldn't get this to work myself, so maybe I'm doing something wrong: either that or I'm simply unable to host matches.
- After you've input your name on the nickname field, press the button that says Configuration
- Where it says "Your I.P. address" type in your IP address
- Where it says "Port", type 17011 (source: http://worms2d.info/Hosting_Guide)
- Leave everything else as is
- Go back one screen, then press the upper left button (play over local blah blah blaah)
- Give the lobby a name, and a password, then press the Host button
- Let the other players know the lobby is open (via PM, Skype, or whatever)

If direct connecting doesn't work, there was WormNET as well. It mostly looks like a hub of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels, but there was an option to host and join games there as well. There was even a helpful bot (at least on the Anything Goes channel), that would create a working lobby for you via simple commands. I can only assume once other people join, it will piss off so that the match can start.

If there are any errors in here, be free to correct me. Like I said, I'm no expert in this TCP IP UDP WTF business and couldn't even get my test lobby to work. Of course, if all else fails, there's always the much more user friendly Worms Reloaded...>;)
I never played a LAN / MP game of worms armageddon. If it's not to complicated i'm in.

Bit of a pain in the arse then it seems. Just been reading on the steam community discussions about wormnet etc, and it still seems a bit of a pain.

Yeh, it's not as simple as one would hope. Hey, it's a 90's game: it was like this in every game, I think :) Not impossible mind you (especially if using the bot), but not the easiest to access either, that I understand.

May I still suggest that Worms Reloaded is used instead? Though I know it wasn't on the lowest tier in the bundle. Or, if it's not possible, we could have a trial run with Armageddon anyway. I already know the kinks of utilizing the bot and setting up matches that way, at least.
Those games were really fun! I spent countless hours with a bunch of friends playing Armageddon. Now, that I think of it, I played this with my wife while we were still just friends, trying to get to know each other a little better.

If this becomes a thing you can count me in.
