I am not new here but I am at the same time. I used to not mess with GOG because I have yet to obtain a good way to make payments but then I heard of Planescape Torment. I managed to purchase it after several phone calls to my bank but it only worked that and one other time.(Roller coaster game!!). Also thanks again Toxictom for the Spiderweb rpgs!! Anyways, what made me make this post is to say that in my cries of anguish of my card issues here(lol) that I noticed this forum contains the nicest gaming community I have seen. IGN forums, Steam, PSN, and XboxLive have so many rude people throughout it that it is a sight to see the overall respect among basically the whole community here. +1 To all that I can!!!

This is quite an interesting community and quite an international one as well, which is very refreshing as you can get a lot of different perspectives on things. I haven't been here long either, but have been impressed with the general level of civility and thought put into posts, particularly as compared to other gaming forums.

The trick is in the name 'Good Old games' ..... If one of those ADD trouble makers looking for excitement came here and saw that name, well their probably going to be so eager to move on that they would break the mouse!! ("get me outa here, click click click click crack break mouse, smash mouse, throw computer out window")
I don't how to reply to multiple people all fancy like!!!! Hey misteryo, what is your favorite game?

the.kuribo: I agree 100% on that!

mystikmind2000: LOL I always thought this site was good but I never had purchase troubles with Steam. Otherwise you probably would have seen me on the forums earlier on.
saith32, I'm new here, too, but welcome! Gog seems like a healthy gaming community (read what you will into 'healthy').

mystik, joking aside, you might be onto something.

Edit: You're right. The forum doesn't allow for quoting from multiple posts, but it does allow nested quotes.

Welcome along, Saith. And noyz.

I've recently started using Paypal (bought all the previous titles using a credit card) and found that it works fine. Might want to give that a shot if your bank is being a bit overprotective.

I prefer not using paypal, and gog's payment method is fine, I think. I just didn't know ahead of time that the bank might block payment without prior approval, since gog is not in my country. This might be something worth noting to new gog members.

Since I was generously gifted the witcher 1/2, which will keep me busy for a little while, I'm waiting until the winter sale before purchasing some new games for myself and a couple to give away.

Gotcha. Well, wouldn't hurt to call the toll-free number on the back to let the card issuer know that gOg is legit. That might keep you from missing future sales.

Yes, Paypal is brilliant..... the only problem i ever have is that occasionally they will reject my correct password. the first time that happened i thought "oh, my password must be wrong, ok i will reset it, then it says "you cannot use the same password as the one before".... so my password WAS correct and they were just being dicks. The solution when it happens is to close it and try again later or the next day, this always works.
