FFL2and3rocks: San Andreas's Steam page says it installs SecuROM.
"Other Requirements: Software installations required including DirectX and Sony DADC SecuROM"
Yes, this is why I'm looking for confirmation. Steam has a history of inaccurate third party DRM notifications (some titles don't list any, but do have some).
In the case of San Andreas, I'm wondering if it was removed at some point. The PC Gaming Wiki states that the Steam version has no third-party DRM and supports both Windows and Mac OS X. Also, the Big List of Steam DRM doesn't mention any of the GTA games except for GTA IV, again pointing to no third party DRM on the earlier titles.
tinyE: 've already got them but this thread has me thinking of making a trip down memory lane.
Yeah, this is where I am too. :)
I played GTA3 and Vice City through to completion many years ago (I have retail discs somewhere, but they have the evil SecuROM, from the days before I learned about DRM schemes).
As for San Andreas, I played most of it on the original Xbox, but that console died just before I got to the last mission, so I never completed it. Never played it on PC though.
