taczillabr: You'd better sleep for 15 years without gaming then, if you can't handle the today's robots. :p
Navagon: It's not a matter of whether or not I can handle it. It's a matter of whether or not I like it. Personally I think striving for total realism when you're obviously going to fall so far short of that goal (as is the case here) is not only a futile endeavour, but also one that's going to produce some very unattractive results (as is the case here).
When you compare this to the results of more artistic, creative and original graphics it looks ugly and breaks any possible sense of immersion simply because it's flaws and shortcomings are so much harder to overlook. You look at it expecting realism and it's destined to fall short. That's not something that's going to happen if it had an artistic style of its own.
Take the black kid that the intro focuses on for a second at around 1:43. The way he blinks would be easy to overlook in something like Borderlands. But there it just looks very strange and unnatural. Little things like that just render the exercise completely pointless.
I was kidding with you. :p
But I agree, games overall are missing the aesthetic and artistic values to be an exceptional title at its own. They are all looking and trying to look the same at this current generation (the same by visuals, and restricted tech), so we need more art to overcome the graphics.
Art, costs a lot. And for being a console-only game and without a giant budget, I think that they are doing well, not perfect, but well.
As I said above, I can't say how it is looking right now 'cause I'm not watching trailers of it, just some screens.
TheCheese33: [...] and now I'm all upset.
This is what I'm avoiding, it's so hard to maintain spoiler-free with upcoming games.
