Hi all,
I'm new here.. was attracted by the spring10 sale. So I checked out the games and went to put some in my cart. It said I needed to create an account. So I took the time to do that. Then had to put them all in my cart again because it was now empty (don't know why) and I click "buy now" BAM full price. So I try putting in spring10 thinking it was the code and needed that but nope. Still full price. So I check around and the sale that ended "at midnight" actually ended at 9pm because I'm Pacific time. Well fine but they were IN MY CART. I was CREATING THE ACCOUNT THEY ASKED ME TO. IN the process of checking out... so because by the time I did all that it was 9:03 they don't honor the items in my cart?? Is this a mistake?? Can anyone tell me? I'm so FRUSTRATED!!!!
There was no "warning" sale ends in 3 minutes or whatever... nothing... just GONE. Well I guess they can decide... keep me so I spend more money or screw me over and I vanish.
Sorry for being so upset but this is frustrating. Can anyone help me? THANKS!! =)

You need to click the support button up top and contact gog directly about this problem as they are the only people able to help you with it. They are a great company though so if you explain to them your problem politely they might help you out with it.

Ok thanks. I'll explain to them. I'm not trying to rip them off or anything but geez to get halfway through the checkout process what with creating account and all and then prices doubling at that point... shocking!!! lol
Kinda like going to a grocery store and calculating your cost of things as you go and then you hit the register and the sales clerk says oh too bad you missed the cutoff... those prices expired 3 minutes ago while you waited in line. ROFL.

I agree with Ralackk about contacting support but it just sounds like you missed the cutoff, which sucks but there will be more promos coming.
WELCOME TO GOG by the way :)
The post about the sale on the front page of the GOG site does clearly explain that the sale ended at precisely "11:59 p.m. EDT" today. It sucks that you missed it by a few minutes, but I don't really think they will or should do anything about it. Like CrashToOverride mentioned, there will be more specials you can take advantage of, in fact they run a new one every weekend, so even though you missed this one, you can be sure you will get another chance with the next one.
Well posting on the front page didn't do me any good because I never saw the front page. Someone else posted the sale on another site and said it ended at midnight tonight. No mention of time zone and it wasn't on the sale page that the link took me too. So no I had no idea that it ended at 9pm pacific until I was halfway through the checkout and the prices doubled. In fact I saw the notice saying to share the sale on other sites and I almost did that before checking out... I would have missed it by even more if I'd done that.
This is the first time I'd ever even heard of this site. =)
ETA: If I'd seen that notice about timezone you can bet I would have been hussling to finish the order in time... but that's the problem. Never did. They really should honor the price in my cart since I was in the middle of checking out it's only right. But we'll see. Thanks.

Well that just sucks, I am sorry :( But bright news is the regular prices are still dirt cheap and they have regular promos every weekend and who knows what else. And with the Atari games coming sometime soon, I bet they'll have a promo for that.
No worries, and welcome to GOG :)
EDIT - And no they really do not have to honor it, because that time of closing pertains to orders made not when you accessed it. It is not their fault you were told the wrong time.

Sorry you had a frustrating experience. It's understandable that you would be upset. Try contacting them as suggested, but I don't know how flexible their charging system is, so they may not be able to alter prices on an individual basis.
That said, GOG has been a good company in my experience; they listen to the community reasonably well, and their employees largely seem to do this for a living because they love games and gamers. There will be other sales in the future, possibly some including the games you were trying to buy. There were a couple in this sale that I've already bought during an earlier weekend sale.
So, welcome to GOG. It really is nice here.
Hey,
this is really an unfortunate coincidence to land on the promo page a few minutes before it runs out :(, sorry that this was your first experience with gog.com, but our promos have to end some time, and for technical reasons you have to get to the payment screen to get the promo prices.
We will have to work on communicating more clearly when the given promo ends, especially when there are only moment to make a decision.
I hope, that despite this first unfortunate impression, you'll stay with us. I promise, that there are more awesome promos on the way.
What happened to you sucks, a countdown timer would be helpful in preventing your type of situations. Thankfully gog games are so cheap already that you honestly didn't loose that much, still it blows.

Agreed, I was going to wait until today to capitalize on the sale, but I did it last night. If I hadn't been impatient, I would probably be in the same position.

If you are going to wait to capitalize on a sale, wouldn't it be a good idea to first check how long the sale lasts?

Well, considering it was called a "Spring Promo", I had naturally assumed it would last for awhile longer. I guess that was a misunderstanding on my part.
Always helps to check the front page:
Until Tuesday, April 6 at 11:59 p.m. EDT

I was actually surprised that the promo was valid as long as Tuesday, they usually end on Monday. But then, Easter weekend may be a special case somehow, like that Christmas thing.

Yeah no I don't think so. That's the WORST customer service ever. And no one even bothered to reply to my email I sent to customer service when it first happened. I understand all sales have to end sometime but when I spend my time looking through what's available and put them in my cart only to be told I need to create an account, which I do, and THEN I'm told "oh too bad you missed it by THREE MINUTES" when I spent more than those three minutes creating the account they said I was required to have to complete check out... how is that even remotely fair?
I'm so upset!! Not even a response to my email. How could I trust you in the future when my first experience was so shady?? You should honor your prices when someone has already placed them in their cart and the reason it was past time is because of the process of account creation. That's just wrong. Remember when I got that message it was 9:03... three minutes and you don't care? You'll throw away a good customer over 3 minutes? That makes no sense AND it tells me that if I do spend money and there's a problem you'll say the same thing... too bad. =(
ETA: You don't understand... I didn't LAND on the promo page three minutes before it ended... NO... I was on that page for close to an HOUR looking at what was available and deciding which items to buy. I invested A FULL HOUR of MY TIME shopping and I had about $30 worth of games in my cart. The ending time was NOT on that page. I had no idea until after I went to all that time and trouble creating an account THEN AND ONLY THEN do I get the full price page. In fact I had to spend more time figuring out what was wrong!!! It didn't tell me... it was only by researching further to find you were in a different time zone that I realized what must have happened. Just thought I'd edit to clarify that as I didn't notice that you said I landed on the page 3 minutes before it ended... and that wasn't accurate.
