running win 7 on laptop. HP pavilion dv7 No issues with others crashing (in general) but Homm3 will crash every few turns on each scenario I've tried.

Anyone else able to use homm3 with win 7?

I've been playing just fine with Windows 7. You should check the HOMM forum.

Ive seen many ppl posting that it works fine. Have you installed any mods? Have you tried reinstalling? Reboot?
There's a problem with HoMM III where it is trying to source a music file that doesn't exist. One solution is simply turning off the music in the ingame settings. The game will no longer crash. Otherwise, you could make a music file that has the exact name as the missing one and place it with the others, but I confess, I have forgotten which one it is. Best of luck to you!

Funny thing is that laptop got dropped in a parking lot and smashed into pieces... I've still never made an attempt to "fix" it.
Guess I no longer have this issue.

Can you select yourself as the solution to this thread?
Necromancy is my favourite skill!
Not really.

Thanks! This solution works for me too. I've been trying to fix it for months now... Had to drop it 3 or 4 times before it smashed though.

Thats bad to hear. I hope you will get yourself something you will love to play on
It actually wasn't on purpose! but I did say "Good" when it hit the ground. I hadn't used it in over 6 months, last time I had I had bought a brand new power supply which apparently went bad on the shelf so i was without it for a weekend I had counted on it.

I think they intentionally make the HP power supplies complete ass on purpose... I never have trouble with any other power supplies, but those seem to 'break" at least yearly.

And sadly, no you can't mark yourself as the solution :(
