Gede: Oh, there it is! Sorry about that.
In that case, my question is: why isn't it part of the Nordic bundle? Will I be able to purchase it later?
G1's publishers are Piranha Bytes (the developers). G2 and newer were owned by JoWood, but JoWood bankrupted (in 2011, I think) and Nordic Games bought practically whole JoWood and its games, including Gothic, The Guild, Spellforce and others.
So yes, you should be able to buy G1 later.
Feyling: I want to add to the "play Gothic 1 first" idea. The second game almost is an enhanced verison of the first and includes its map. I began the series with the second and it gives you enough information about the first. When I later played the first, I didn't saw anything new and interesting. Still Gothic, still the great atmosphere, music and world but you can always start off your adventure with the second one without any worrries.
To the continuity question,
as I already said once:
G1 and G2 are very strongly tied together. You'd understand the story etc., but you would not understand such things as "who are those people in the bandit camp", "why should I know him", "should this be an easter egg", so no. You wouldn't understand it completely.
I strongly recommend you to play G1 first. (Though I also started with G2 NotR.)
