Three Moves Ahead recently had a podcast talking about Imperialism 1+2. I missed this classic but after hearing the podcast must play it.
Also Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic needs to be here. I sold my copy and regret it. A true classic in the Master of Magic mold. A must have for this site.
Every strategy gamer on this site needs to go vote for these classics.
I give a strong vote for Imperialism One.
I vote for the three titles, both Imp1+2 and AoW. :)
Also, there is a GOG's games wishlist:

Imprealism 2 is a good game, and I would not mind seeing it at GOG at all, but I am pushing for the first game because whereas here are a lot of strategy games with the rensnasiance setting that Imprealism 2 has, few games have the Victorian setting of Imperalism 1.

There's Victoria, by Paradox Interactive. Victoria 2 should come out soon, too.
The setting doesn't matter all that much for a strategy game, anyway. All that really matters is how well the game plays.

Setting may not matter to you, but it matters a lot to me, even in a strategy game. The setting has to be interesting to me if I'm going to be spending time with it.
And Imperialism is a wonderful game. It manages to present it's setting and gameplay elegantly. While I haven't played Victoria, what I've read about it indicates that it is a lot more detailed in both good and bad ways.

I've still got my copy of the first Age of Wonders around here someplace. For some reason I never really sold on the sequels. But both the single and multiplayer in the first was possibly one of the finest games I ever played.
Yeah, in a historical game, setting matters to a LOT of people. A lot of people buy games because they are interested in that specific historical setting.
I loved Age of Wonders. Used copies of Shadow Magic sell for $50 on amazon these days o_o
