So I stumbled over this website in my internet adventures, this is the Japanese company Sir-Tech sold the Wizardry trademark to before going bust. Pretty stark excuse for a website, but they do have an English version of the site, so I assume at least some people at the company must be English speakers.

Has GOG made any tentative attempts to make contact with these people?

The story seems to be that they are completely uninterested in doing anything with the franchise beyond occasionally releasing Japanese-only games. I'd like to see it here too, but it doesn't seem likely at this point.
