I've been thinking whether to join that DD service or not. Looks neat enough with a lot of interesting titles.

As far as I know the client is optional. I haven't encountered 3rd party DRM either.

Edit: A quote from an interview with Keith Poole from Desura:

"We are DRM agnostic, so our recommendation to game developers / publishers is to ship without DRM or use a CD Key system. We don’t want to make customers jump through hoops to get their games running, however if a publisher requires a DRM and won’t release without it, we shall discuss that with them, and make sure users purchasing the game are aware of the DRM it ships with and how it works."

As far as I know, Desura is "DRM neutral", meaning that the games can come with a DRM scheme of their own ( maybe 20% of the games) , with a CD key or be drm free, but that the Desura Client itself is not DRM in the strict sense of the term ( it managed dosnloads and updates, but the installer file can be used outside of the client , for me, that's not DRM ) .

Problem is. They are *mostly* DRM free. Some games require a CD key. What some haven't mentioned is - there are a bunch of Steam only games on their as well.....

That's not the problem. The problem is that, aside from Steam, they don't mention any of the DRM that might be in their games.

I have never used them. Is there any point if I use Steam and GOG for everything?

The biggest problem of Desura is that they don't really say on the store page if a game has DRM. Steam is mentioned on the store page if a game requires it, but nothing else AFAIK.

There are some indies that are not available on Steam or GOG I think.

I have 194 games on Desura and I think almost none of them have any kind of DRM.

Same here. Some games with DRM on steam, that i also have on Desura have none.

A real good store. The v2 preview of the site finally has a search function for free games, as there are HUNDREDS to find and play there, some totally great.. Desura might well be my favorite digital store actually, many of their games includes the OST, the main (and only) extra I care about from GOG games, Steam having manuals, too.
