I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it all depends on how the album was mixed and mastered. An album that was properly mixed and mastered will sound good on vinyl, CD, Mp3 and all that jazz, a poorly mixed and mastered album won't sound good on anything. Everything else is just up to personal taste. Oh, and in my opinion, a great pair of headphones is just as important as whatever you're using to play your albums.

While I don't own a vinyl player, I love going to thrift shops and checking out their vinyl, there is always a bunch of albums that are hard to find anywhere, case in point, in a local thrift shop I've found albums by Nina Hagen and Peter Murphy.
Just ask this lady! ;)
I remember my vinyl days, buying 45's and LP's, and I wouldn't go back. The pops annoyed me way too much. Not to mention having to be careful setting the needle down and picking it back up. That scratching sound was like nails on a chalk board to me. And then there is the storage and care of the LPs...no thank you.

JudasIscariot:
Most modern vinyls are made from digital masters, so there likely won't be too much of a difference when comparing them.

Shaolin_sKunk: Thanks, I think that answered my question. I hear the difference too...
I have to wonder how accurately one could hear the difference when listening to a digitized recording of audio that is most certainly compressed using some lossy compression scheme. The source is a Youtube video after all.

There is also the wholeness of sound from vinyl as it's an analog medium. A new vinyl from back when, did sound better and fuller. That said, pops, skips and other longevity issues, I'd take the slight short-term loss of quality for the CD. Record albums covers were cool and that is something that is mostly missing from CDs, but boy do albums take up a lot of space and are heavy if you have any sort of collection. And while picture disks were pretty cool, the softer vinyl to make the colors further affected the longevity of the record; they weren't worth playing, you needed another copy to actually play.
