Since I haven't given away a GOG game yet, but still really like this community (and giving away games), I give to you a copy of Master of Magic.

I haven't played this game before, but it seems like a very popular (and good?) strategy game.

I'm not sure if I should get it for myself, so if anyone has ever played it (or knows anything about it), I would appreciate any information on this game. Do you know it? Have you played it? Did you like it or dislike it? Why? This is not really a part of the giveaway, so feel free not to say anything. The only thing you can get from helping me decide is the good feeling of being nice and helpful. ^^

I haven't played too but fight between wizzards and old school strategy aspect seems cool. I would like to try it cause is very particular style of game. Is like magic on civ and more! Strategy is magic!

Got the game in the infamous insomnia promo but haven't played it yet but love every game that's been (apparently) influenced by it.

I'm also not in (because I own it already :-)).
I'm still playing it every now and then. It is one of the best fantasy strategy games ever made. There is al lot of variety (lots of spells in different magical schools, lots of different races and units, lots of heroes and artifacts).
In many ways it is comparable to Civilization, but the magic plays a major role as well as the heroes. Some of them really rock, when they advance in level, and there is the nearly invincible Torin the Chosen.
Maps are always randomly created, so each game is a bit new and fresh.
On the maps are a lot of structures to explore, like magical nodes and ancient ruins. Resources for cities are based on terrain plus bonus like various metals and crystals, some of them providing an attack bonus to units if you have built an alchemist's guild in your city or if your leader has the alchemy skill.

The manual is from the good old times and therefore quite elaborate. A good source for information is the wiki:

Almost forgot: The game is the spiritual predecessor of the Age of Wonders series. AoW 1 took nearly the whole magical system and many game mechanics.
MoM is still unique in its playing experience.

It's a very good game I spent way too much time on in the past. Basically 4X with some emphasis on adventuring/RPG elements. None of its spiritual successors (elemental etc) have really captured what made MoM great... yet, anyway. Hopefully Stardock can get its act together and make elemental work.

On a personal note, given how you carry yourself in here I wouldn't feel pressured to do giveaways. People that should feel pressure are...well people like me and Sachys and Licurg. :P

Oh man, I do love me some Master of Magic. My uncle had it, so I've played it a lot, though I haven't gotten it here yet. So, I guess, Strategy is Magic!
