I have stumbled upon this interesting Kickstarter funded Indie game earlier and from the description it sounds like FTL meets Artemis bridge simulator. Since FTL is often considered one of the great modern Indie games here on GOG, I thought I'd Share this here.
The Developers have already gotten an early alpha prototype running with some basic gameplay, as can be seen on their Kickstarter page videos. They have also detailed the budget requirements, something I haven't seen on many Kickstarter projects.
The games goal is to explore a procedurally generated galaxy and search for the location of a fabled lost colony by searching planets, space stations and other locations for clues. a game may last in the developers own words "30 seconds to 30 hours"
here are some key Features:
-First person viewpoint, walk around the interior of the ship
- procedurally generated galaxies
-12+ ships across 5 playable factions
-up to 5 player CO-OP over LAN or Online
-Five classes with multiple upgrade paths. (Captain, pilot, scientist, weapons specialist and engineer)
-A robust single player adventure with AI that learns with you, all the way from the Academy to the Stars.
-beam down to planets, space stations and explore them to find resources and stuff to research
-Challenge modes to add extra replayability
-Crew permadeath (If your ships re-spawner module gets destroyed and all your crew gets killed you start over in a new galaxy)
From everything I've seen here on GOG, the community is more focused on singleplayer titles than multiplayer. the developers are hoping to cater for this market by adding intelligent AI to fill out any unoccupied roles.
The developers are currently planning to offer DRM free versions through their website and also through steam, which suggests to me they may consider GOG as a distributor.
Pulsar's release date is estimated at summer 2014
