Arteveld: I miss the days when UK rocked the world with games.
...
Guys, get back to games, and show those Yankees how it should be made!

The current (and possibly the next) government are only interested in using games as a scapegoat for our social ills.
They have no interest in promoting the games industry in this country, and so we lose more and more people to the US, Canada and other places.
And yet the government has no problem pouring money into other businesses, including failing foreign owned ones.

At least they know that there are games.;P
As long as they don't spawn a wacko self proclaimed moralist crusader to haunt the evil gaming industry, there's a chance of recreating the "european school" of games. Now everything is kinda samey with a sickening political subtheme.;)
The subject is neat, it actually fits to the newly added Constructor, which is a british made gem, go System 3! ;)

Oh crap... ;P
For every country theres a nutjob on the loose i guess.;)
Did he have any success with claims like that?
On the other hand, if You think You're screwed, look around, there's always someone in a far worse position. Take Aussies for example, they've got BANNED games, Germans have a censorship case on their games [ie. no swastikas], in the 21st century;P
As long as those nuts have no real power we can always have a laugh.
Shouldn't there be a law, that makes some people loose they license if they suck at it? I see he's a "Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee", clearly, an he makes an affair, over nothing.
Banning violent and sexual content is lame, but i'm all in for a punishment for overrated, overhyped, unfinished and unpolished games. Bad game? BAM! 10 years of street scrubbing.;P
[did you know: cod:mw2 was translated into polish using sth like google translator, and it shows? god, how lame.]
Although he doesn't have too much of a negative impact, it is people like him who prevent the UK games industry from growing.
Apparently, as of last year, we were the 3rd biggest (by revenue I think) games producer. We are losing ground to the French and the Canadians, and we do not have much time to strengthen our position.

I thought the Russkies would now be at the top, they've got the ideas and the potential, but lack the skill, it's sad to see good games die from bugs.
Anyhow, any neat UK indie companies one should be aware of? [in the likes of Runic, or FrozenByte?]
