It's not that I give a damn, but please...

STPI is not directly responsible for recording data. It's IMAPI that is None of the burning software that I know uses imapi.dll for burning discs.

STPi or STPD are responsible for accessing the portable devices such as DVD-ROM, but NOT for recording data. STPI is used also by non-burning software, just to get access to the drive.

CdBurnerXP doesn't use IMAPI for burning disc, but third party component. I knowthat for sure, because I'm using WindowsXP and I disabled the IMAPI service, and I still record data on my discs. Pretty cool, huh?

If somebody is satisfied with barebones STPI and IMAPI implementation, that's ok.

I hope now you understand everything.

Okay, okay. :D Thought it was also for burning (since accessing is a pretty general word). :)

Please don't hurt meee. :(
Not a problem :P By the way, it's even recommended to disable IMAPI on WindowsXP since it's very, very outdated and can cause serious laser calibration problems...

I don't know how it is on more modern systems, but basic burning options on Windows are far from enough for most users :P

But hey, thanks for the fight :D
