The upcoming release of Master of Orion has got me thinking about Master of Orion 2. Assuming it's included in the deal and will be released on GOG at some point, would it be possible for it _not_ to be patched to the latest official version, with the patch available as a separate download?
I don't think that I'm the only one who enjoyed playing with the cheaper Creativity price pre-patch. It may have been overpowered that way, but sometimes it's just fun to smash the opposition :)

As far as I can remember, that is controlled by one of the LBX files, since I have the 1.2 version (last patch was 1.31 iirc) I should be able to provide the apropriate file. If I can figure out which one it is.
There is also an unofficial patch 1.40, but only for the DOS version. BTW, which version of MOO2 will be released on GOG? DOS, Windows or both?

I imagine the DOS version would be easier, since you would just need to tweak DOSBox.
No idea if the windows version can work with 64-bit OS.
THe Windows version of MOO2 has a lot of problems with XP,do I am guessing you can forget about running it on a 64 bit system wihtout a LOT of tweaking.
The MOO2 Community..and it has quite a following...almost universary recommends using the DOS version ran on DOSBOX.
Someone posting that the Windows version had Direct X enhancements, but if it had, I can't see them. The Windows and Dos versions look exactly the same...except when you get wierd colors with the Windows version on XP.

That's what GOG is for. :P
They seem to always try to offer both versions or at least the superior version.

Sometimes I have this problem on Vista (I'm runing Windows version). If you get weird colors, try ALT+TAB to switch to desktop, then go back to MOO2. Maybe this will fix the problem. It always works for me.
