It is strange, but even games I have bought from gog which i did not like at all I have never given low stars. I guess I figure I just don't like the genre. Maybe I should start to make it a point to down rank games I didn't like.

Whiteblade999: Reviews here have a certain level of nostalgia. That is to be expected given the site is built on old games, which cause nostalgia. Are they misleading? Sometimes, like Stonekeep is crap by today's standards ...

Stonekeep is awesome, even by today's standarts ;)
And nope, no nostalgia here, i knew nothing about it untill a few weeks back.

AndrewC: Rose colored glasses and all. Also, people don't really bother writing reviews for games they didn't like so that's why you generally won't see them.

Never been to Amazon I take it? :P The user reviews there seem to only ever be written when people have something negative to say. Which of course requires a 1 star score...
You have to remember the site is GOOD OLD GAMES. GOG doesn't allow bad games so...you're not really going to find bad reviews. There's room for difference of opinion of course and some people will hate a game but overall yeah...it would be weird if pretty much anything here got below three stars.
Scores are kinda dumb anyway...I go more for the text.

Some reviews are very riveting like that wolf moon shirt. Aargh I promised myself I wouldn't mention it, ever.
Just matters on your taste, and I agree that usually the one who writes the review is the one that loves the game in the first place.
Most of these games have demos out, but it might be hard to find them.

Thanks to our community, it's not a problem anymore :)
Wow, now I don't need to spend time looking for demos anymore.
Thanks!

I don't use the UK version of amazon, but for the United States version, I find that there is a lot of variety in the review scores. I actually find it pretty useful

3 stars. :D

Simon the Sorcerer 3D has 2.5. But that's probably not the best example seeing as it really does deserve less. Especially seeing as the developers hate it as well.

And for a longer list of the lowest rated games so far:
3 stars:
Driver: Parallel Lines
Earthworm Jim 3D
Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus
Kingdom: The Far Reaches
Lords of the Realm 3
Sensible Soccer 2006
MegaRace 3
2.5 Stars:
Simon the Sorcerer 3D

Yeah I agree. A little hard to get used to (lol @ imba arrows), but still one of my best purchases here.

Wahooka, Faerie Realm, turds as loot...it's beyond me how anyone can not love it. ;)

I think most of the people have by now realized that this is simply not true.
