just wondering, is there, or, will there be, any moderators?
if so, what would it take to become one? not that I deem myself worthy to be one, on the contrary, I'd probably really suck as a moderator. Just because I'd probably not lock threads that were made for teh lulz and make a few of those threads myself..
Just wondering is all, I want to know who's going to ban me, so that way I can have inner peace when it finally does happen.

why should there be -1's to this post? this is a question that needed to be asked, I'm quite clearly not the only one who thought that the question should be asked, as it has been raised a number of times.

The first rule to becoming a mod is not to ask to be one (which you haven't).
It's a relevant question that will need to be answered at some point in the near future, particularly when GoG leaves Beta and steps out into the real world for all to see.
It can be very hard getting it right though as everyone here are pretty much strangers to everyone else and the trust that is needed to be a mod has yet to develop. The reputation system is handy and can be used as a measure and having previous mod experience on other forums is also a plus.
It's not going to be easy with a new forum and a new community but from what I've seen so far, I'm optimistic that a solution can be found.

my main inquiry on what it takes, was a probe into whether or not they'd be hired on, or if they'd be taking volunteers from the community.
I suppose an extensive review process would need to be done, almost like a job application..
The moderation offered by the Devs so far, I've really enjoyed. Then again, there hasn't been much need for it.

Don't think I've ever come across a forum where the Mods were hired help, the norm is to use volunteers in the community. Normally there is some nice incentive involved and in the case of this place I'd guess maybe the occasional freebie game and early access to upcoming releases would be the way to go. Also, mods would normally get confidential information so they are kept in the loop and are able to prepare the forums for future releases which is also another nice bonus.

Those forums and BBS's that I've seen in, got their moderators/cosysops from the most active people who can think with their own brain. Well. Actually - not "most active" if I correct this... Most "noticed" people is better one. People who writes little more with less words. :) Hard to say this. Maybe someone who is better with english knows what I am saying and explains :D

As someone who has done Mod work before, in a few places over the last couple of years. (And would not consider it again really)
Prepare to loose many hours(days) of your life. Even the most peaceful community, that works together well, and has no trolls, will eventually break down into chaos.
It can be fun, just don't let internet get to you!

bumping old threads is bad, but I figure if someone has a listing for this, they might enjoy the rep.

I haven't seen a need for a Mod yet but I'm sure it'll eventuate though I am enjoying the, mostly, friendly arguements here.
However, and much more relevant, is that I think I'll miss Weclock's question mark avatar.

Mods would need to keep an eye out for that sort of thing as and when they are eventually brought in, it's the sort of thing that can be easily exploited.

Yeah, I guess they're jealous or something. It happens often. As long as I keep answering help questions, and being a supportive member of this forum though, there isn't really anything they can do.
