The achievements list for the 360 version has been posted and that normally only happens 4-6 weeks before the game comes out so with any luck we'll be beating lechuck again in June

Can't wait for it, will get the PC version ASAP and maybe the iPhone version too.
They actually managed to come out with achievements for an adventure game, amazing.
I'll get the PC version, hoping it hits Telltale before I grow tired of waiting and get the Steam version.

me too
Not interested, since in MI1 SE I encountered a game breaking crash that I could not get around no matter what I tried. Though I haven't actually tried redownloading and reinstalling the game since I have no idea where the saved games are to back up. (this is the Steam version)
Didn't get the first SE but I love Monkey Island 2 and have never completed so this will be a purchase for me.
I'm not crazy about this SE business but it was sort of interesting to play through the first one again with the voice acting/updated graphics, etc. I'll likely give it a shot when it comes out.
I never played the original games, so for me the release of these oldies with redone graphics and voice acting is a wonderful thing.
Indications that this might be testing the waters for new (though somewhat different) adventure games

I think they're saved in the steamapps folder with the game data. What was the crash exactly?

It looks like Settings and Savegames are stored in "[Username]\AppData\Roaming\LucasArts\The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition".
BTW did the first one also have achievements on Xbox? I don't know this just seems wrong for an adventure game... some will like it I guess.
If its on the 360 is has achievements, its part of the requirements of publishing for the platform. In fact they were largely the same as MI2, mostly done for story progression with a timed run, no hints, let guybrush die, switch to old school mode...

As you can see, not a lot of difference
Am I the only one that vastly preferred the original graphics, even if it was pixelly? The original game's graphics just had so much more character and atmosphere, and despite the low res, weren't nearly so ugly as some of the special edition stuff. (I hated the new Guybrush char design, for example, and most of the other characters were similar)
To be honest, I'd be just as happy if they simply re-released the original, like they did with Loom, The Dig, and the Indy games. And hell, Sam & Max, Full Throttle, Maniac Mansion, DOTT, and the rest while they're at it. Come on, Lucasarts, I want to give you my MONEY!

Err they did, press the button to switch modes and you're playing the original game again. There's an achievement for doing it

The old graphics still have a special charm in them, indeed. If you're interested, some fans have worked on fan patches give the game some of the old charm back there's also the original discussion about the modding tools [url=http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=199164]here.
@Aliasalpha: ah ok, thanks. LucasArts must think that the game will only appeal to people if they throw in some achievements, I think they're right sadely.

Well the 1000 (or 200 for arcade games) points of achievements are a compulsory part of publishing on the 360 so they have to do them. Seeing how ther original game was is a good way to use them I think though I'd make it that you have to finish the game on the original settings rather than just see them
