I like to use the original icons for GOG games and usually find these in the games folders but for stuff like Time Commando or whatever I'd like to use that MS DOS icon that seemed to be everywhere on Windows 98 but I can't find that one anywhere online... does anyone have it, or can link me to it?

It's still there in Windows 7.(don't know about 8, though)

When you click change icon, go to browse, and search for pifmgr.dll.There's a lot of old Windows icons in there.

Also, if you open moricons.dll, there's some more MS-DOS specific icons.

As of Windows 8, the old icons are still available in %WINDIR%\System32\pifmgr.dll and %WINDIR%\System32\moricons.dll.

Nice, I was worried they might have gotten rid of those.
I'm using Windows XP on an old Dell D620 for my gaming these days... powerful. I'm using the linked one but it looks a bit shiny, photoshopped or whatever. Probably just my memory misfiring though.

edit: I've just realised my account is really old.

The one foxworks linked is definitely an updated icon, so it's not your memory. Did you see ZFR's link?

Since you're using Windows, you don't need to look for an external icon. Just use one of the built-in ones. The one linked by ZFR is in pifmgr.dll.

This guy was the best :)
Oh sorry guys, missed ZFR's, that's exactly right.

NOSTALGIA!

FWIW, there are no MS-DOS icons, presumably, you mean Win 3.1 or possibly Win 9x. The Windows 98 icon is probably the icon.
Yup I extracted mine from pifmgr.dll from Windows xp so it is the exact one. Wasn't sure if the newer Windows had it.
