It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

You were warned by the title and yes this is a watered-down, triggered mini-rant.

Generally I love GOG. I love the DRM free content and obviously the old games and so many other things. The competition with the other online game providers alone is very valuable.

But. (oh c'mon you knew it was coming)

1st whinge:
FIX the damn downloader or throw it in the bin. I have seen buggier messes before but this is not being fixed after years and is unprofessional. It has trouble dealing with install tracking, trouble with internal icons and again today it has decided to pause and never restart. Unless, of course, I take the game off the downloader then restart it and add the game again. Frustrating.

2nd whinge:
Please make the game version downloaded transparent. I don't care what internal version you use. I care about the game version so i know if it needs updating, particularly for mods. It cannot truly be that hard to achieve. Reach out streeetch and hit that goal.

Yes there are easy workarounds for both these issues. Well, easy to many of us, but why should I screw around because GOG doesn't get this aspect of customer service? And why should Nublet Nonuthin be frightened away by the same issues?

That's strange because I've never had any trouble with the downloader myself.

You'll probably have to wait for some time before GOG revisit the downloader. Now they're developing and testing the Galaxy client so they'll most probably fix that first.

Tarm: snip
Isn't some download function part of the Galaxy client? I thought Galaxy is the improved dloader, rather than a zero sum opportunity cost.
i have had a few problems with the downloader a few times but nothing too major

Not yet but as far as I remember it will and Galaxy is supposed to replace the download client.

GOG is done with the Downloder, and they've said as much. It will even be retired once its functionality makes it into the Galaxy Client.

I thought so but wasn't sure if I remembered it right.
I don't have any trouble with the downloader but I agree with this:

Yes, I'd also like to know at one glance which game version I'll be getting.
I think they already managed that for some games like Divinity:OS for example, so I hope the others will follow.
