I want to get a game (to be more precise- an expansion pack), but I'm not sure which one to get. I'm considering either Chaos Rising or Awakening. I quite enjoyed both DoW 2 and Dragon Age, but I was tired of Dragon Age towards the end and I just wanted to complete the game quickly for the story. DoW 2 was a surprise for me because I don't quite enjoy strategy games in general (because I absolutely suck at them), however I liked the heavy RPG elements of the single player and the action based multiplayer. Which expansion pack is longer, and, if you could recommend one, which did you enjoy more? Thanks.
Which is longer:
I hear DA:A is ~25 hours. I can't confirm or deny until it arrives in the mail some time next week.
I am currently playing through Chaos Rising. I (re)played DoW2 beforehand, which was about 6-7 hours. Steam says I am on hour 16 right now (and I think I am on the final level), so that would mean 9-10 hours. That feels wrong (seemed a lot shorter), but so be it.
Different in the sense that you now have corruption factors, and the game no longer cares about how fast you can beat a mission (unless it is a special mission). So no need to race. And you periodically get control of non-Astartes units. And should be at least two playthroughs worth doing (Corrupt and Loyal).
That being said: If you felt yourself getting tired of DA:O, go with Chaos Rising. Both are "more of the same", but epic (Chaos Rising in particular has some battles that put Men of War to shame).
Does the corrupt/loyal stuff give you different missions depending on which side you choose or is it just a lousy different ending at the end of the game? I have a strange feeling about both of these expansions- even though I liked both base games, for whatever reason I'm not sold on the add ons...

I agree with Gundato, you yourself said you were getting tired of Dragon Age, why bother with it then? Money doesn't grow on trees!

No idea. I suspect that it will largely be a matter of events playing out differently, but same missions, and maybe different inter-mission commentary. But don't quote me.
And it isn't so much choosing sides (good/evil). It is more like the Mass Effect Paragon/Renegade, just with the ability to make Thaddeus's boys explode and turn into daemons.
I'll have more details when I start my Corruption campaign.
well according to reviews both expansions are more of the same (i.e don't fix whats not broken) both have good merits (or corruptible merits !) however if you were getting bored of dragon age then try dow2 chaos rising first there is always the multiplayer !!

Okay. My first run of Chaos Rising took about 8-10 hours. Admittedly, at least one hour of that was the final battle. Not the final mission, but the final battle. You'll understand if you buy it :p
so the final verdict is ?
Not sure of the price of each, but if DA got boring toward the end you may do better with the other title. you never know give it a little time and the price could drop on DA addon as well! :o)
Thanks for the advice. I've decided to pass both of these expansions for now- there's way too many great games that I just have to get. I can just wait for a price drop for these add ons.
